Cowboy Front Office has always been very transparent which positions they are targeting via the draft. This year it's pretty evident it's going to be a offense heavy draft.

First, what does that mean for our defensive fa's?

I believe it bodes well for the likes of DLaw staying, Gregory/Kearse resigning. It appears they will be bringing the band back together. Certainly, they still have needs within the defense, but the team believes major help is needed on the offensive side of the football.

As for the offense, hearing reports that Amari might not be the same player and has lost a step. Who knows if this is just the Cowboys leaking for PR, but it also can be true.

Going back to the draft, Cowboys have been linked to G/T, WR, TE and even RB's. It makes a lot of sense:

-Connor Williams isn't expected back. They have a hole at LG. Right now, we haven't heard anything about moving Collins back inside. As I wrote yesterday, the team likes to convert Tackles inside.

-Clearly evident the team is going to release Cooper and is hopeful they can resign Gallup to a long-term contract. That leaves a hole at WR, unless they also resign Wilson.

-We heard the news about Jarwin and perhaps the team using the tag on Shultz. I'm not a fan of it, but losing the entire room and Cooper could be too much to overcome.

-What we know is Zeke is probably playing his last yr on his current contract, Pollard is a fa after the season. Rather reshaping the whole unit next offseason, good time to start now.

I still think it’s too early to start reading the tea leaves. Especially after the show the defense put on last night. The one thing I’m fairly certain of is that we are taking a WR in one of the 1st 2 rounds. This is the year to get a WR if you want one. And if either Gregory or DLaw are gone I think an edge player will be taken early as well. And this is also a year to get an Edge guy. Heck look at all the LB’s that performed yesterday. I’ve never seen that group run that fast. And guys that have good tape to support it. This draft sets up amazing for us. With that said, we only have a few impact picks and we have a bunch of needs.

If this an offensive draft it's a poor use of resources considering out of the 7 highest paid players 6 of them are offensive players.

There are too many good defensive players and holes on the defense to neglect that side of the ball.

After the loss to the 49ers the consensus opinion was to get better and tougher in the trenches on both sides of the ball. Also, to give #11 some help.

I don't disagree at all, just telling you what the info is telling us.

If they let Gregory walk or release DLaw then I think they will almost certainly take an edge player early. But very possible you could be looking at 4th and 5th round additions.

I know you're informing us and I for one appreciate you. In my own way I was pointing out how unbalanced and poorly run this team is.

We have needed a free safety and NT for years but they continue to bottom feed those positions

Te and wr are deep and I hope we wait til middle rounds to address. Need trenches early on both sides and maybe lb or s imo.

Thinking Gregory gone in 2022 CBS mock draft has Karlaftis the edge out of Purdue falling in Dallas lap they compared him to Ryan Kerrigan . Edge is nice does nothing for the OLine or the interior of the defensive line. Hope Carlos Watkins comes back with a healthy Gallimore & OSA with a yr under his belt .

CBS has Treylon Burks the Arkansas WR going to the Eagles earlier in round one. The obsession with wideouts continues in Eagle country . Do they have the QB to consistently get him and Davonta Smith the ball is the question.

I think “Amari losing a step” is completely false but he’s likely gone so somewhat irrelevant…all we can hope is that we plug in a quality LG, Lamb takes that next step to be a #1 and Kellen somehow learns to target his playmakers.

Anxious to see what happens with Lawrence/Gregory but hoping we just take the best players available.

What's it going to be then, eh?

I would expect this to be the case.

But I would not rule out a nice nugget for Quinn in one of the premium rounds.

We can only do this though because we're so stacked along the defensive line.

Yeah is probably coming from the Cowboys to ease fans outcry

There is absolutely no reason to justify playing 20 m dollars to a WR that is not a #1WR by any measurable metric. He’s not remotely that player. I’d be happy to take a WR in round 1 or 2 and just move on.

I think we need to let the process play out and see what they do at the position.

Drafting a receiver that high is not the way to go regardless of 19’s next huddle location .

They better not force offensive picks. They have holes everywhere, not just on O. They could use a LB. They could use a S. They always need DTs. With Lawrence apparently declining a pay cut, he might be a cut possibility meaning our DEs suck. So we need a DE or two.

Anyone thinking we can just go heavy on offense must have really enjoyed watching our high flying offensive teams lose because the D couldn't stop anyone in big games.
