Speed, before and after the snap, will be imperative

One thing that seems quite clear is that McCarthy wants the offense to be faster in 2023. That will manifest in a variety of ways, but most notably being the addition of speedster Brandin Cooks. Similarly, the elevation of the explosive Tony Pollard to the top of the running back depth chart further serves the goal of being faster.

The Cowboys also drafted two highly athletic skill players in Luke Schoonmaker and Deuce Vaughn. While it remains to be seen how big of a role each of these two will play in Year 1, their additions are symptomatic of the new focus on speed. Then there’s Simi Fehoko and Jalen Tolbert, both of whom posted elite Relative Athletic Scores coming out of college, who have gotten off to hot starts so far this offseason.

Dak Prescott is running the show

One of the reasons for getting out of the huddle quicker also has to do with giving Prescott - renowned for his ability to diagnose defenses pre-snap - more time at the line to adjust the call before snapping the ball. This was another thing McCarthy did in Green Bay, with Rodgers frequently making audibles or tweaks at the line of scrimmage based on what he saw. While McCarthy ultimately caught heat for it - with some suggesting that he was a bad play-caller who needed Rodgers to clean up for him - the results on offense were incredible, and it leveraged Rodgers’ football IQ as a weapon against defenses. Now, McCarthy will try to do the same with Prescott.

Player-approved changes

Offensive coordinator Brian Schottenheimer recently mentioned that the tweaks they are implementing on offense gained sign-off approval from veterans like Zack Martin and Tyron Smith, as well as Prescott and Pollard.

Pass protection will look different

Run game overhaul?

Speaking of running backs, the Cowboys are looking to get more efficient results from their run game this year. Schottenheimer has been known as a run-game savant throughout his coaching career, and his time spent with Solari in Seattle provides a common ground for the new approach.

It will take the whole season and playoffs to truly evaluate the "new" offense and if it is better or worse etc.
Then there is injuries, what if cooks gets hurt early? Better to just wait and watch and dont get your hopes up too high.

It may start out good, then once teams have it on tape, it might slow down, no way to know.

To the MOON Alice to the Moon!!!!!
When you have as a leader and QB of your offense an infective part you can dress the pig any way you want and it's still a PIG!!!!
Dak certainly has his issues, but I think he does need to get the ball out faster. Hopefully, the routes are crisper, quicker, shorter, so Dak can focus on quick reads and run if it is not open. Dak spends way to much time in the pocket, while the recievers run curl routes all over the field. It didn't help Dak.

It's all window dressing as long as the #4 is the QB.
In 2021 Dak Prescott had a QB rating of 104.2 and a total yardage total of 4,409 yards.

In 2022 Prescott and a ton of offensive line shufflings due to injuries and a lot worse receiver group.

In 2023 his line should be much more solid and his receiver group greatly improved,

Look again...

Mike McCarthy called plays for Green Bay for a decade and a half. He is very experienced at it. By Wednesdays, he and Schottenheimer should have things for that week worked out. The OC can then work along McCarthy and make suggestions as games adapt and develop. McCarthy is a much better play caller than was Kellen Moore. He has done it for three times as long and was successful.

McCarthy has spent a lot of time with his quarterback, Prescott, during the off season and that working status should also develop into a strength as direction was established and is being worked upon up into the Training Camp. Prescott is working hard with his receivers right now.

Dak's always right around the top 10 in time to throw among regular starters. He was faster than Hurts, Herbert, Allen, Mahomes, and Jackson last year.

That said, the Dallas passing offense has always looked for long-developing routes, like deep crossers, and steered away from too many quick hitters. He could be right among the league leaders this year if there's a bit of a change in philosophy.

I do not believe he is known for this at all. But i'm hoping with more influence from Mike that changes. I want the QB feeling comfortable and confident in adjust calls based on what he sees and how the defenses are playing them. Romo would sometimes do this a bit too much and take the bait where I don't think Dak does this enough, going back to the time Amari had to beg Dak to make a change to Coopers called route.
