I caught a few seconds of Colin Cowherd (here in Texas we pronounce the h as a t). I normally don't listen to him, but he had an upcoming guest that I wanted to hear.

He directly said that he is praying for the Cowboys to draft Manziel because that makes his job much easier and more fun.

He compared it to things in the past that gave him endless talking points like Tim Tebow being a 1st round draft pick. He said he would love to see the meltdown by some fans and the over-hype by the media and other fans.

I like Colin but it's not gonna happen. In fact JF's stock has turned once again and he's moving up mock drafts fast. So much so I think he's top five now.

Our circus is doing just fine on its own thank you.

Johnny Manziel? Overhyped? Say it isn't so! Shocking!:)

I'm glad the media likes him, it makes their job easier and they get to build him up and rip him apart later on. Win/win for them. As for a team you draft a player who believe in whom you think can help your team win ball games period, for those teams who feel high on Manziel then it makes sense to take the chance on him those with question marks I don't think it makes a lot of sense to use your 1st rd selection to get him.

This is not an Andrew Luck situation where there was a consensus of the player being a top pro in this league.

The sooner he gets picked, the sooner all this crap talk about Dallas selecting him will stop.
But if he is selected by Dallas, it will be non stop Cowboys, whether pro or con on JF.

However, it doesn't help us win now, nor maybe later. And he can't sack the opposing teams QB.

I've heard local radio personalities in Dallas say the exact same thing.

Houston will trade down with Atlanta to the 6th spot and then take Manziel.

It is a good thing we still have 10 days before the draft. Enough time for this particular story to die and they go on to somelthing else they made up.

So is this evidence of any report that says we are interested him or would draft him if he fell to 16 isn't true?

It is what it is. It's evidence that the media would love for it to happen and that they have a conflict of interest in terms of accurate reporting.

Is is not proof that all stories are false.

It's like motive in a murder trial. The motive does not prove it, but it does help when deciding what to believe.

You know the all the mediots are praying for the same thing. That would be a dream come true for them. Talk about a get your popcorn ready moment. We go DL or OL at 16 and their steak just stopped sizzling.

I think a lot of fans would rather just see the media eat their words rather looking towards the future. Everyone whines and complains that Dallas doesn't plan for the future. How quickly everyone forgets what it's like to not have a plan in place when you have a 34 year old QB that's had back surgeries. I almost hope those who are complaining about the possibility of drafting JFB get their wish and we are stuck without options when Romo goes down. 2001 looking forward to seeing you again!

It didn't hurt the local buzz moment momentum when none other than Roger (the original dodger) said that he would pick JF #1.

Rog and Tarkington are the 2 most successful QB's to compare with JF -- people watched because they were amazed by the escapability of those guys, yet they were small enough to be crushed at any moment. Created some real angst and drama, and they made it work.

I'm not opposed to getting a QB just not sold on Manziel. I would just as soon get Murray from Georgia than use the 16th over on on Manziel. Im not anti Texas A&M, I'm a born and raised Texan and it is not personal but I'm not sold on Manziel living up to the billing and given the importance of this draft I don't want to see Dallas take a player that I feel is more bust than boom. Granted I'm not a scout, I'm not a coach and I'm not a GM but in my own view based on watching him I'm not sold on Manziel so it makes little sense for me to want Dallas to draft him. Would have said the same about Vince Young when so many were drooling over him. I loved him in college but never felt he had what it took to make in the NFL

The fuel that feeds the media fire comes from the people that buy the rumors and constantly spread the rumors on message boards.

If just the conversation of Manziel to Dallas starts all this imagine if he starts falling on Draft Day. It's gonna make Bo Callahan sliding to 6 look pedestrian.
