The Associated Press reports New York Jets S Abram Elam's older brother, Donald Elam, was fatally shot Friday, May 9. He is the third sibling in the family to die by gunfire since 1987. The Palm Beach Post reported that Abram Elam's brother, Donald Runner, was fatally shot in 1987 and his sister, Cristina Elam, was shot in 1999. KFFL sends their condolences to his Elam's family and friends.

When Abram was 6, his half-brother, Donald Runner, was killed in a drive-by shooting in a nearby park. Two years later, Elam's older brother, Donald Elam Jr., only 14, was charged with murdering a drug dealer. He was acquitted, but he ended up in jail on an unrelated charge. He was released just two weeks ago after an eight-year sentence.

The low point came when Elam's sister, Christina, only 12, was fatally shot by the older brother of a classmate with whom she had been arguing. It happened in the same park. Abram, a high school junior, ran to the park, past the police cars, through the police tape and cradled her blood-soaked body. She died at the hospital.

It's not our job to police the world. We're in no position to be telling other nations how to run their country. Wouldn't the billions of dollars that we've spent on this war be better spent on improving our own situation?

Russell (not Richard) Simmons is right. Gangsta rap is definitely a reflection of their mood. However, it isn't necessarily what causes the behavior. They get desensitized by violence because they get introduced to guns, drugs and alcohol at a VERY early age. I mean, take a trip to your local ghetto and tell me what you see...a bunch of liquor stores and gun stores. It's the norm for them and it's wrrrrong.

So many people worry about race in words and that is why division is among us. Obama is running on race, yet no one has a problem with that?

The lack of family life is at the root of crime in poor areas and politics are used to divide the common man, in order to keep the general peace.

Race issues should be open for discussion for Blacks,whites, Lationos, so the differences can be accepted and aired out. Too many Jesse Jacksons and other white men of "God" being used as our mouthpieces.

Theses daily headlines is a indictment on our politics, social hiearchy, misguided education system.

Several first world countries adopt a school system, in which child placement is based on testing results. This allows for job training/skills to be obtained for those that test consistantly at that level.

If America would stop B.S.ing itself and adopt a similar system alot of these poor kids could learn trades and live a meaningful life, instead they have no chance and then turn to crime. Before someone cries that I am singling out Black Americans remember there are far more poor white throughout this country.
