Gotta say, I'm sorry for Hatcher but glad the Cowboys didn't get burned with another player being paid who possibly won't be able to play. Obviously, the Commanders took their chances bringing in an older vet. The youth movement currently taking place within the Cowboys' organization definitely has its built-in advantages -- avoiding the retention of the injury-prone older players is but one advantage that is somewhat likely to accompany that change. It was about time we abandoned our re-signing of the costly oldsters.

Funny how once some players get paid that these nagging injuries that prevent them from practicing spring up...

Very happy that Jones and the Cowboys did not re-sign this guy long term.

The youth movement is one of the things Jerry is getting right. Letting go of Hatcher and Ware, especially after Hatcher playing in a contract year, was a great decision. You simply have to be careful paying big money for older players, especially when they are playing out of their mind in a contract year. With that said, I don't wish injuries on anyone and hope he gets better.

his coach said he would be ready for TC, hatch said it is a bump and he will be ready...why is this a big deal? IMO, he is an again vet who is experiencing his old (in NFL terms) body feeling the effects of ramping up...he likely is setting the stage for resting for most of TC like a lot of vets do....

...I hope, for his sake, that he is not injured...but, I REALLY can't stand the Commanders so I hope that personally he is fine, but is unable to play so that the skins still have to pay him, and get zero in return

What Commanders fans laughed? Because on ES everyone was praising Lee and sorry to hear he was injured again. The only people who even slightly got laughed at were Cowboys fans who loved throwing around the "RGKnee" moniker.

A lot of skins fans on twitter were.

Serious about what? That he will be fine or that he lives in my neighborhood? Jason Hatcher, Roy Williams, Bradie James, Andre Gurode, and some others live in my neighborhood. Patrick Crayton used to live here but he moved away.

That's just cool in general being around players from your favorite team, etc. Nice;)

Yeah, I ran into Bradie James at my kids daycare back in January. They go to the same daycare. I ran into Patrick Crayton about 4 years ago at a pizza place right outside of the neighborhood, and we ate hibachi with Stephen Bowen 3 or 4 years ago as well. He was already there and they sat us at the same table with him. Stephen was super friendly and somewhat shy.

I won a contest on twitter and got to meet Dez for dinner at BJ's. He gave me tickets to that game and $1k in cash. That was the game where Romo went down. Asked him a billion questions and had a great time.

I don't think any player is looking to have surgery and go through painful rehab. It is part of the job I guess you could say but I don't think any players is wanting to do this.

Really cool bro, appreciate the personal tidbits about the players (current or past). A lot of NFL players are generally cool people off the field (when sober anyway:D) from stories I hear like yours. When I hear casual observers label the NFL as all thugs in doo-rags it makes me cringe.

Got his pay day, though. Glad it happened there and not here.

Imagine if we extended him and were relying on him to be a key cog on the defensive line and he went down for 4-6 weeks with a knee injury that will almost assuredly bog him down all year long, now?

It raised red flags that his best season so far came in a contract year.

That and every quote being about him getting paid. He had a great season last year, no doubt. Bug I'm glad they didn't commit big money long term to him.

I'll criticize what I feel are bad decisions, but I'll also praise what I feel are good ones.
