Young, Garcia, McNabb, Romo.

Its not exactly like he had Trent Edwards or Ryan Fitzpatrick throwing to him his entire career.

If he wouldn't have been such a self-serving ***-hole at Philly and Dallas he could have finished his career in either place and been much closer to Rice (stat wise) than he is today.

"I know hands-down I'd be close to Jerry Rice's records if I had been with quality quarterbacks like he had. He had Joe Montana and he finished with Steve Young. That wasn't a dropoff.

Say I had been with a guy like Tom Brady, Peyton Manning or Drew Brees all of my career. Are you kidding me?

Regret is too strong a word for me. As you grow older and wiser, there are things you would have done differently."

' Older and wiser ', my derriere.

If T.O. had started out at the same time as Jerry Rice or evena year or 2 later, maybe even 3yrs Jerry rice would not have all the records that he has.
People can comment on T.O.'s attitude and his drops, he still was/is as good as Rice.

I will disagree with him on the bad QBs, all the QBs he had got the ball to him a whole lot.
I am a big T.O. fan, and I can and do disagree with him at times, and I can say there are times he needs/needed to be quiet but there is a lot of time when he did speak I thought it needed to be said, and I agreed with him

Tom Pedulla of USA Today reports Terrell Owens talks of playing another two or three years in pursuit of an elusive Super Bowl ring, he recognizes that Jerry Rice's individual records are out of reach for him. He blames -- who else? -- his quarterbacks.

The guy is annoying but what he says is not far from the truth.

I don't know how close he could've gotten to Jerry Rice's numbers but he certainly would have had better numbers if he played with a Hall of Fame QB like Joe Montana throughout his career.

But this can be said of any highly talented Wide Receiver.

He says things in the wrong way, but he's accurate.

Heck, Jerry Rice wouldn't be Jerry Rice if he hadn't been in an offensive system that revolutionized the game.

The same could be said of most of the 49'ers of that era.

Nobody would have ever heard of Steve Young if the 49'ers hadn't rescued him from the career purgatory of Tampa Bay.

And Joe Montana would likely have been an average journeyman quarterback if not for the genius of Bill Walsh and his "West Coast Offense".

The part that sticks out to me is where Owens says he wants to play for 2-3 more years.

I think he's running out of options on teams willing to put up with him.

yeah, Tony really held you down...
Great point, Bob! And let's not forget all the yardage that went along with the TD's.

He was a good boy all season, and puts up great numbers considering his QB's, and now he starts? If he shut up for 2 more months he could've landed on a decent team like Chicago or Baltimore.

Thing is how would he handle a Joe Montana telling him to shut up? Joe much like Staubach was the focal point of their teams and ran them as such. Roger and Joe would jump on guys when they messed up. TO has never been able to handle that or at least has never shown he can
Very astute on your part. You are 100% correct!

I think TO inability to take any form of criticism from anyone has created problems between him and his QB. Hell Troy would get after WR as did Montana and Roger as most QB's do. They run the show on offense. TO tends to go off if anyone corrects him.

Would his numbers be better? For a while until those QB's request the team gets rid of him.

You notice TO even in this conversation is more interested in personal things instead of team. Why not say If I had Montana I would have a SB ring instead it is all about him and his own numbers.

I have always said TO had 10 million dollar talent but a 10 cent brain and I stick by that, the man has no concept of team in what is the ultimate team game Football

Before everyone gets there drawer in a bunch, it may not be entirely true, but there is some truth to it. He is second or third to Jerry now as far as TDs.

Lets get this out of the way I dont think he was taking a shot a Romo. He and Romo were very successful.

Garcia. was made by owens...we saw what he looked like in cleveland. Yeah he played well for 8 games or so in philly, but Owens made Garcia. Only a pro bowler with Owens.

McNabb has his best year with Owens, never matched that since.

Be mad that hes the one that said it, but not at what he said.
