Ball showed surprising power in run blocking at guard. However, when they moved him out to tackle, he showed that he still struggles with speed players and might do that pass blocking at guard against starting DTs who have topnotch movement skills.
Ball sucks. You were excited about both him and walenzko

All teams are having same problem on OL, just isn't enough time for them to develop in the current era. Just no good depth League wide
No they arent. Lol

what an ignorant statement.

Fortification = Cooks + Gillmore.
Not FAs, but also reactions to failures to adequately anticipate problems the previous years (primarily signing cheap WR James Washington, and before Bland broke out, we really had only three corners we knew we could rely on ... Diggs, Brown and Lewis). This front office is reactive, not proactive.

I was excited about Waletzko before this preseason because I thought he showed something worth developing in the little bit that we saw him last year.

I was not excited about Ball based off last year, but hoped that he would improve. He played well at guard in the preseason. But I don't expect you to acknowledge that.

Why? You saying you've never been wrong on here? Because I'd hate for you to lie like that.

Certainly if you think "Ball sucks" based off this preseason, you are wrong on that account alone. He sucked as a tackle, though.

Fingers crossed Richards continues to ascend. Him taking over for Tyron and allowing Tyler to stay at LG would be huge.
- I'm not ruling that out with the rookie Richards possibly coming in to LT, (when Tyron eventually missing games)
instead of Tyler swinging out to LT.

- Club may gamble and give Richards a long look, evaluate him, weigh his plus vs minus plays
and overall game performance. See how he adjusts as the game goes on.
See if he plays savvy beyond his rookie-ness.

- He may not be as weight room strong as he needs/will be, but what if he fights and battles stronger
on the playing field than what the test measurements says ?

I think we'd kick Tyler out to tackle (because we know what he can do there) and play Edoga at guard. Richards then would be the next option if something happens on the left side.

He claimed that Schoonmaker was hurt and wouldn't play this year. He ranted about it

I'd put that to the test over the years, but it would take too much effort. If you want to hold me as your standard, though, do what you must. I'd almost guarantee that you've railed against far more players who've made the team than been right about players who didn't. That seems to be who you are. Either you are completely sold on a player or completely against him (and you ridicule anyone who doesn't agree with you).

Ball played well, and he played against starters in those first two preseason games or do you just want to ignore that?

As for Waletzko, we'll see. At this point, I'd agree with you that it doesn't look good, especially with the two shoulder injuries, but he's a small-school guy who doesn't even have a full year of play under his belt.

You may not believe this, but I don't pay that close attention to you. I've been amused by some of your stances, but not enough to memorize them and recall them. If you want to be my stalker, feel free. I'm not so inclined.

But I think I'm done with this. Don't want to get into more back and forth with you that accomplishes nothing. I didn't create this thread for that purpose.

Since I don't care for blowhards, I took a brief look for something you've been wrong about (didn't want to spend too much time on something pointless so it wasn't any kind of comprehensive search).

Here's you prediction before camp on storylines come September:

1. Cowboys Oline in dire straights before the season even starts as Tyron Smith again to miss significant time
2. Steele not ready to start the season, may miss a few games
3. Can the Cowboys offense score enough points with a starting Oline that includes Walenzko at RT and Chuma at guard?

Just in case you feel I cheated because I didn't name a player you missed on, I decided to look a little bit more and there's this from last season:

Wilson was replaced by Washington and its probably an upgrade.

Cooper is what we lost and he was a luxury we didnt need. Heck Gallup played only few games last year so its not like we have all 3 guys for that long.

Cedee, Gallup, Washington is a great 1,2,3 and with Shultz being the #2 pass catcher on the team we are still loaded with pass catchers.

They may look to add a young WR on the 2nd day that will be a 4th or 5th guy on the team.

My only concern really is the beginning of the year with Gallup out. They even have Pollard that if they were smart, would get more involved in the passing game.
And that's only looking at about 10 to 15 threads (ones where you had the last comment since there doesn't appear to be an easy search method on this site and I didn't want to spend a great deal of time looking).

I'm quitting this exercise now. As I said, it didn't take that much of an effort to show a clear miss by you. Unlike you, I don't take extreme positions. Find a thread where I ever said that Waletzko or Ball was going to be great. You won't be able to do it. At most, I've said that I've seen potential that I hope is realized. Last year, I saw it in Waletzko in a very small sample size. This year, I've seen it in Ball as a guard. Maybe not enough to ever be a starter, but at least a decent backup.

Feel better about Richards and Bass because we've seen the potential this preseason without the downside, but I wouldn't say either of them is going to turn out great either because I don't know.

I like the future projection in Waletzko, Ball, Richards, and Bass...as early as depth for next year. This year will be building time for every one not on IR.

Why did Richards drop so far into the draft?

The film and reports on him were good. Made me wonder what I was missing, then he comes in and backs it up on the field…albeit against backups.

I’m happy they had the nerve to keep to rookie backups. Not scared to churn the bottom.

That all said, one was a late pick and the other UD. We need to STRONGLY hope that neither one of these guys see the field at all this season.

I think the odds are pretty good that we see Jason Peters suit up this year. Hopefully they have a handshake deal already in place, and it would be nice to have a guy like him to school Richards.

He actually did surprisingly well against starters, too, in those first two preseason games. And that was after kind of being thrust in at left tackle because of Edoga's injury. Not sure how much time he had spent practicing at tackle since we were trying to train him at guard.
