Help me with this...

Out of all of the recent seasons (i.e. after 1995), this is one of the deepest and talented rosters we've had in a long time. Every season since 2003, we've been getting closer and closer, .......right?

That's just it. No matter what we do this offseason, my excitement has been somewhat curtailed by the fact that we haven't won a playoff game since the 1996 season and that last season's superbowl was there for the taking.

How real or contrived do you think this playoff drought thing is? My rational brain tells me that there really isn't too strong of a correlation between seasons (i.e. every season is its own entity), but there's that part of me that wonders if the environment in Dallas (the local and national media, various small distractions on the team) is conducive to producing a team tough enough for winning playoff games.

Please give me reason(s) for hope on this topic!!

A repeat of what happened from the late 80's thru the 90's is currently taking place.

We WILL return to glory.

Book it!

I was more excited for last season than this one. The end of last season's disappointment really made me cynical. I was angry that we lost, but somewhere subconsciously I was almost expecting the Cowboys to lose. As good as they played in some games last year, I never saw them just be as brutally efficient as they could've been. If/when I start to see them play the way I think they can, then my excitement level will probably rise.

Great draft......speed......cb's......with coverage skills......Tank with gas.....and better chemistry with Thomas

While early reports from camp are very encouraging, I'm somewhat nervous at the same time. We start out with an awefully tough schedule, and we still yet have to prove we CAN play well in Dec.

For now, my expectations are low-guess that's a good thing b/c if we do the things we're supposed to do, I get pleasantly surprised.

I think the playoff thing, is a mixture of bad luck (see 96-98, 06-08) and bad teams (99-05)

The question is can we get the ball to drop in our court this year. If so then we could a force, but if not, then we'll be lookin at another first round exit.

That's because you spend so much time on ExtremeSkins and those guys are beating you down over at ATN.

Seriously.

It's not like we're cursed or something. We came the closest to beating the Giants in the playoffs... something nobody else did either.

Those ES ****wads have nothing more to say about a team as loaded as Dallas and they pound on the no playoff win thing over and over.

Stop listening to them. They're delusional.

Think of it this way: They all actually LIKE tr1. How right could they be about anything?

Exactly my thoughts - I have the same type of feeling that I had back then...we are very close...the Roy thing scares me, admittedly, and for a variety of reasons.

Is tr1 even a Commanders fan? I believe 99% of his posts ARE in that ATN forum-all of them being anti-Cowboys.

If your team is good enough then eventually playoiff wins will happen.

This team is WAY too talented not to win at least one playoff game. The Seattle playoff loss was a once in a lifetime botched field goal.. the Giants over 3 games last season were every bit as good as we were in all honesty, and the playoff game could have gone either way.

Sometime soon the dam is gonna break and after the first playoff win, I'm hoping for a flood of them.

What people are forgetting is that even IF Romo had made a clean catch on that snap, the Hawks STILL had some 80 seconds to drive for the winning FG.

Pt being that our D was getting torched late in the game, and it would have given the Hawks plenty of time anyways to score the winning points.

I believe we have a 5 year window for the show granted eventually TO will need to be replaced...

I think tr1 is an alter ego of one of their mods... Jimbo, I think. As a mod he can't say or do what he wants to dallas fans, so he just logs in at tr1 and does what he wants.

That's what I think, anyway.

That's an interesting take. Who knows, maybe there is at least a grain of truth to what you're saying.

While ESers definitely exaggerate the negatives, to say the least, it does provide a balancing effect for the homeristic effects of most Cowboys forums. That being said, I need to spend more time posting here!!

At the same time, my fears aren't exclusively "ES produced". For example, I remember when Jimmy Johnson was here. In his two superbowls here, he was a possessed man knowing that he had to do whatever it took to get the players to play at a higher level than during the regular season. I worry that Wade, given his lack of playoff success, hasn't quite figured out that his past approaches to getting his team ready for the playoffs hasn't worked.

Best post I've read this week.
That tr-1 character is nucking futs. He cares more about the Cowboys then I do.

I almost get the feeling that tr1 is a parody of extreme Skins homers (no pun intended) who hate Dallas more than they like the Skins.

Let me answer your original question. Very little. 12 years without a playoff win means nothing to this team.
The last two losses will have a small effect. Key guys like Romo will have those losses in mind as they prepare for their next post season game.

We will win a play-off game this year.
The only question in my mind is if we win the Superbowl.
