Exciting build-up

It's been a long time since I've been this excited in the final hours approaching the draft.

Probably several reasons, but one of them is the new format. I always missed the old days when the draft was on Tuesdays. I like the move to Thursday. Friday is going to be very exciting, too. Then, even more on Saturday, with plenty of time to debate this stuff between each day's picks.

Also contributing to the fun this year: the Rams don't have anyone locked up yet, guys like Gil Brandt and Goose saying the player rankings are all over the place this year, rumors that Dallas may trade a player or two.

Lots of intrigue this year ... and we get three days of it.

It's more intriguing to me this year than at any other time because there is concrete evidence that we are going to make a move on draft day. Maybe even multiple moves. Before it was just a lot of speculation on fans' parts.

Very excited about this draft as well. I have gotten no work done this entire week.

Given that we've got our number 1 this year definitely helps!

Let's not bank on that. I would hate to watch the draft today and then Jerry trades out of the 1st round.

Jerry moves around every draft, so what else is new

Imagine if this were last year.

Jerry Jones had just traded away a first and a third. And then traded out of his spot into the third round.

I doubt you would be all excited. In fact, you would have to wait until late Friday night to see Jason Williams get chosen.

I'm hoping we trade out of the first round, the meat in this draft is the second and third rounds

i agree Chief, although i wish the 1st day was more than just round one, i can say that all the seeds have been planted for this draft for an actual trade up. include the fact that we are shopping several players for added picks makes me think we are trying to stock the picks to actually trade up. that has me the most excited to see if that does materialize.:starspin

All this build up to and . . . watch . . . we'll trade out of the first.

This is what I'm fearing. All these hours of watching and they trade out and that's it. :bang2:

The only scenario for a trade down would be if some team in the early second round wanted a QB ie Clausen Tebow, McCoy and were willing to offer us a great deal including next years 1st would be the only scenario i would move down for.

That is really gonna drive me crazy. I should have a pretty good buzz by then so I could start screaming right in the middle of Buffalo Wild Wings.

im somewhat excited to see what the Rams do also, i just dont feel like they are going to take Bradford which will shuffle everything

The draft is always interesting, and a boom time for unfounded hopes and unjustified wailing.

But I personally hate the new format, all cut up and episodic. I would like it much better if it were rounds 1-3 on one night and then the balance the next day. But it's all about keeping a high profile for the NFL, so I think this is how it will be for the foreseeable future.

It's going to be an insane draft. I think it will easily break the all time record for trades. With the draft at night the teams have had all day to work the phones and lay the groundwork for trades. With a break after the first round, teams are going to reevaluate the board and will be on the phone all night trying to trade up to get the players who unexpectedly slid out of the 1st. Same thing with Round 4.

We need Jerry sober tonight.
We need him to be thinking of the fans.

If I stay up until 11:30 and hear "There has been a trade for the 27th pick" I will freaking murder someone for making me wait til Saturday for relevant Cowboys action.

:laugh2:Yeah if I've sad here for the past 10 hours and I hear that, I may kill someone. They need to let us know now if they are planning on bailing so we can do something else now.
