I always wondered that too. Mike was unstoppable in a small window where no boxer alive would have beaten him. He would have probably gone down as the undisputed best ever if he didn’t have outside problems and kept his head on straight. He is still my favorite boxer though, right ahead of Foreman.

Especially with King firing Rooney. He wasnt the same fighter after that. A big what if for me is if Cus and he continued to train with Rooney, never went to prison, how he would have faired with Holyfield, Lewis and Bowe. We definitely would have gotten more interesting fights with Lewis and Holyfield. Maybe even without cannibalism

I was a little at time just getting into boxing, and even then the difference was notable. Granted my uncle was a boxer, a Tyson fan boy and would complain all time about Snowell

Watching some Youtube videos on Iron Mike, it seems like there is also a popular sentiment that he did all this stuff in the Cus D'Amoto days, he was just better at hiding it, or pulling Tyson out before it became trouble. How could that happen with such a quality mentor like Don King on his side?
