Execution eats playcalling for lunch

I laid low last week because I have a low tolerance for whining. I always come back by Wed of the week after a loss in case anybody who has a history of disagreeing with me wants to talk seriously about the game. But I don't consider it my responsibility to babysit grown men and women who handle disappointment badly. We've got guys around here who can't even tolerate a close win. The way the league is setup, that's insanity.
I thought babysitting grown men and women was part of the job description for a mod? Lol!!! Good win, salud!!

Execution is important, absolutely, but we also had more slants, drags, deep throws, in routes and less curls and comebacks than in the first 3 weeks too.

So tired of hearing people complain about playcalling. Fans just need to know one thing. If it works, it was a great call. If it didn’t, then it was terrible.
Interesting how easily we execute against scrub teams like the Giants and Lions and not against disciplined, well-coached, talented teams like the Packers, the Rams, the Seahawks, etc.
When you go against teams that you need to beat to advance further in the playoffs, you're going to need playcalling as well as execution. There's a reason Bill Walsh and Bill Belichick script(ed) their plays for the first few opening series.
The good teams know what you're going to do and have the talent to thwart your execution. You're going to need smart playcalling, smart coaching and a smart team.
I'm not certain we have that yet. So forgive me if I don't consider a last-second win against the lowly Lions a sign that "we have arrived."

So we were talking about playcalling and execution and you have bumped the thread to "we have arrived"?

Almost all of Dak's completions were on in breaking routes.

Have to watch the All-22, but didn't see nearly as many curls or comeback routes.

Do you mean they have to Catch the passes?

What is the purpose of talking about playcalling and execution if we can't project them into the future?

Playcalling and execution are MEANINGLESS if they're limited to the Lions game. Teams don't play the game to win against one team. They play so they can beat most of the teams with the goal of beating the best team.
It's like bragging about a road you've paved yet the road dead ends into a cement wall. What good is a dead end road? The purpose of paving roads is to get from one destination to another.
It's the difference between process and pointlessness. :)

It's fine to talk about it, you were the only one that mentioned "we have arrived".

Tone and tenor, my friend. Tone and tenor. And don't tell me you don't see the "here haters, take that" posts? Those posts imply that we have righted the ship. You don't say that if you think defeat and futility are a week away. ;) :)

A firm grasp of the obvious.

This is the nfl. You’re not just going to ram the ball in from the six yard line. And had we tried and failed, you best believe the playcallet would have been killed.

Like I said, if it works it’s great. If not, the call was dumb.

Whether fans complain or not. It’s asinine to insinuate that playcalls don’t matter.

Many just want to talk about what is.
You are no less innocent.
It's pointless here

When play calling is executed, whether boring play calling or innovative play calling, innovative play-calling always wins. I loved the victory but please, let's not go overboard.

My point, and obviously it’s flying over peoples heads, is that the best playcallers are those with the best players. How magical is that?

And what’s asinine is how revisionist fans are. Like I said, if it works it was great. If it didn’t, people always have the answer for what would have worked instead. Hindsight is 20-20.
