Memo to Williams: be ready.

Chances that Murray, Dunbar and Randle stay healthy are slim.

Wouldn't be shocked if the probability of that went through his mind. Dude never complained about lack of reps in practice and playing behind 2 and 3rd string Oline. Would love to see what he could do with starting offense.

Hope he eventually gets signed to the roster. I believe he's a starter, and a star.

Not hyperbole. There's a reason he was a high draft pick

There's a reason Blair Thomas was a high draft pick. There's a reason Ron Dayne was a high draft pick. There's a reason Rashan Salaam was a high draft pick ...

I would love to stumble across a starter and a star. That would be fantastic. I don't want to dismiss the possibility. But there's a stronger possibility, he's just another player having a cup of coffee in the league.

Not trying to rain on anyone's parade, but too much hype is being given to a player who has done little to really deserve it. Did he have a few good plays in the preseason? Yes. But he also had quite a few bad or so-so plays.

That doesn't mean I'm not glad he made the PS, just that I don't expect much from him. Maybe he'll pleasantly surprise me.

Totally understand your point of view. I never get all worked up about a guy who can't even make the roster.

However, Williams has excellent running instincts and I believe he would excel as a starter. Staying healthy though is the ??. I just think guys with that kind of ability are worth keeping around.

He's the perfect back up for Murray. If he can remain healthy, he would be a good option to replace Murray if we can't resign Murray.

Like Dunbar?

And how did 32 coaching staffs and front offices miss his approaching "stardom?"

He might. I won't dismiss that. But a lot of people are getting worked up over players who are more likely to be on the bottom of the roster than get to the top.

There are obviously some exceptions ... and I hope that's the case with Williams as well as anyone else we keep.

Dunbar has a role to play on this team. If he doesn't prove that he can consistently make use of his speed and elusiveness when he gets chances, or fumbles or poorly protects Romo, then he will show he doesn't belong.

Right now, I'm intrigued with the skills that he has, but that doesn't mean his career will turn out any better than Williams', or that either will have success.

They didn't. That's why he was very highly regarded and drafted high to boot. Medical red flags have kept teams away currently, and rightfully so. my point is that Williams has an excellent skill set with major potential. He's not your typical bottom of the roster churn material.

He is limited. A gimmick player

It'd be nice if he does something, he hasn't yet. For a player who has done so little the hype Dunbar gets is crazy.

Don't mention Ron Dayne. I am still having flashbacks to the horror he put me through with his long run on us...

Maybe. He's a scat back/change-of-pace type and it'll be interesting to see if Dallas can make use of his skills or if he'll be too brittle or mistake-prone to be of use.

I'm intrigued by him, but that doesn't mean he's going to turn out to be anything.

Is there hype for Dunbar? I think some people left him out of roster discussions that randle and williams were in because the team obviously has big plans for him and protected him. Others seemed to ignore the obvious and put him into those disccussions as battling for the roster spot and were corrected. Id say thats about as far as hype has gone.
