We are $6M over the projected 2017 cap.
Many positions will needed to be filled including WR2, CB1, CB2, SS.
People want to resign Mo but he will probably cost more than $10M / year.
A premium DE is needed.
Martin needs to be resigned, but probably during the 2017 season so would probably push his cap impact into 2018.
Cap games in the range of $20M-$30M per year is pretty typical.
We expect to be picking late in the draft due to 5-1 record.

Money is going have to come from somewhere.
As a start, we can assume TSmith will be restructured again to clear about $8M in space. Hopefully TFred's contract can be restructured in the same fashion. Assuming these, may be $15M or more will be cleared in space.
Now the painful part. Listed below are 2017 salaries. The first number is the 2017 base salary and the parenthesized one is the dead cap.
So who are the players who are not performing up to expectations of their contract and are their replacements in place?

Here is my list:
1. Romo (dont shoot the messenger) - Replacement: Dak
2. Crawford - Replacement: Collins, Irving
3. Free - Replacement: Green who seems to be injury-prone, so need to draft swing tackle
4. Hanna - Replacement: Swaim

So the easier cuts are Hanna and Crawford, assuming June 1 rule, would clear about $3.5M.
Of course they could restructure instead given lack of performance.

Who else do we have left that have replacements in place - Only Romo and Free.
Curious what cap experts think about restructuring for Romo, Dez, TFred contracts etc. Though this would probably assume Romo and Witten salaries are gone pretty soon...

Tony Romo QB $14,000,000 $5,000,000 - - - $5,700,000 - ($19,600,000) $24,700,000 15.91

I am sure they have 50 different scenarios on the cap already and how it may play out.
Not concerned at all about it.. Let's get through the season first.

Turns out there is a good article in BTB today on keeping players next year :)

We will have tons of cap space next year, the only cap casualties will be guys like Free that are overpaid or guys like Church if he doesn't resign at a friendly rate.
