As I see it going into the next draft, of course bpa should be the idea but of the bpa I feel we should focus on:

RT- Doug Free's replacement should be on his way, he has not been that solid this year and hes aging anyway.
FS- How many years will we look past this position? Give us a pure coverage safety and start the transition for Wilcox to SS.
QB- Romo's successor needs to be found sooner rather than later. We have a young team, time to work some youth into the position.
DL- Best dline player available. Dont know if we really need a specific spot but playmakers are def needed.

We still need a SOLB. If Lee comes back he is WOLB and resign McClain as MLB. Need another DE too. Also FS and CB. Carr contract gets stupid next year and Claiborne is a bust so far. RT is a need. Free most likely will see the door but if dallas moves Martin to RT then both OG spots become needs. I'm not a fan of Leary. The guy gets pushed back way to many times. I would prefer a veteran LG and then draft a RG 2-4 th round to compete with Leary at RG and slide Martin to RT.
Also DT depth.
All depends on free agency also.
But right now the needs will be.
DE, RT and or OG or 2 OGs, CB, FS, DT, SOLB

Guard= they wanted Trai Turner , Martin will be your RT next year. QB, Romo physically in decline. DL LB DB

Were going to need a WILL, best DL available, RT, CB, and possibly a RB. If Romo's doesn't start to improve then a QB might shoot to the top of that list. I'm hoping his velocity improves but it's no sure thing and I'm not buying the garbage they're spewing about him throwing it better than he ever has.

I disagree on the QB. We owe Romo way to much and will probably have to restructure his co tract again next year to free up some cap space. So drafting a QB to hold the bench his entire 4 years would be worthless IMO. Get players that can help now.

If we keep McClain the Lee will be the Will. But we do still need a Sam. Romo is her for another 3 years no matter what. We won't have the cap space to release him anytime soon

BPA according to need in any order:
QB
DE
DT (2)
T
LB
CB
S
G if they move Martin over.

All these positions need upgrades, if we can hit on 2-3 per draft for the next couple drafts we will really have something for the future of this franchise. And some of these spots can be handled with some slightly above average FA's...

This would be my order:

DE
CB
DT
FS
LB
RT
RB
QB

Anything beyond that would be gravy.

there's no way they move Martin out to guard IMO

DE
DT
OT
ILB/OLB
RB
CB

They cannot rely on Lee to stay healthy anymore. The Cowboys should draft as if they will not have him and anything they get out of him will just be a bonus. I'm hoping and praying that this will be the last of his injuries but the team has to play it smart here.

So who plays the SAM? You want to draft a WILL just to back up up Lee for just in case and skip on the SAM. I'm gone drafting for depth but not early.

you can get Ramik Wilson in the 3RD he can play both

QB: I still wouldn't force the issue, meaning if one falls in our laps, take him, if not, I can see us not taking one.
RB: I don't see us resigning Murray, so I can see a RB being taken in rounds 3-5
OL: I really don't want Zach Martin moved to RT, so I wouldn't mind seeing us replace Free in round 2 or 3
DE: Not really sure what we have in Lawrence, but either way or DE is needed. Someone who can play LDE would be better, but if a great pass rushing prospect was there in round 1, I wouldn't pass on him even if he was RDE only.
DT: We'll know more by seasons end, but right now, I'd prioritize 3-tech DT just as much as DE, but Melton may change my mind.
LB: Same as DT, in that it is too early to decide. I like the potential of a Lee, McClain and Carter LB corps, but it's hard to count on those 3, for different reasons. I'd take a LB, but where is TBD.
CB: Even if we cut Carr, I wouldn't draft a CB high, but maybe add one in free agency.
S: Still would like to see a coverage safety added high.

I agree that QB should not be a high priority in the next draft. Romo's contract prohibits that, this is the first year of his extension and his cap hit next year is something like $27,000.000 so he will have to restructure. Meaning, cannot have another 1st. or 2nd round QB sitting there. Stay with the two backups we have. DT and FS would be my top priorities. So, DT, FS, LB'er, RT, CB.

We got a few guys that can play the SAM just fine and it's probably the least important position on the defense if there is such a thing. To be perfectly honest, I just want best possible defensive player with at least the first 2 picks unless Romo arm doesn't get better--then QB all the way.

I agree but Lee would be a great will. I want a FS and DE with the first 2 picks. I agree about the Sam being least important but if we can get a starter in the 3rd I'm all for it.

1st DE Fowler Jr
2nd FS Prewitt
3rd SOLB AJ Johnson

That would be and amazing draft.

At this point, I don't think you can pass up a good LB because Lee is here, and to some extent, that applies to McClain too. There's no reason you can't draft a Will and have him be a depth/rotational guy.

I would look for QB if someone drops.
If not CB as we need another quick.
Then BPA via -
DL
RT
RB

Sure there is. Look at the 2009 draft. That's what happens when you draft for depth. I have no problem drafting a LB early but it wouldn't be to just be a back up. I look for starters. We need a starter at the Sam
