It sounds like there will be at least two moves made today.
Jaylon Smith to IR, and Darren McFadden activated from NFI.
The Smith move really has no impact to the active roster and I don't think many of us ever expected him to play this year.
But if McFadden is added to the 53-man roster, somebody's got to go. I'd vote for the non-factor Dunbar. He played way too much Sunday Night and contributed nothing positive to the team. Whatever this team thought they saw in him obviously isn't there and doesn't translate to the games.
But I wouldn't stop there.
It's clear that this team misses the blocking they were getting from Swaim at TE. Once again, Gavin Escobar is disappointing, and showing why drafting him for this team was a mistake. I continue to be shocked that the team has done nothing to improve blocking TE. I hope they finally realize that this week.
If they want to go the veteran route, Brandon Pettigrew was released by the Lions. He's an experienced blocker. If they want a young guy, they can still re-sign Austin Traylor, a player they had know camp who is already familiar with the system.
And then there's the matter of deciding whether or not to activate La'el Collins from IR as well. And deciding whether or not Whitehead should be 'lucky' enough to still have a job.
But given this week's events and the lackluster performance Sunday Night, I'd like to see some churning done and I think it would be a nice wake-up call for a team that could use one.
