Dez Bryant-WR- Player Mar. 14 - 1:37 pm et

According to the National Football Post, Oklahoma State WR Dez Bryant draft stock is "slipping and might continue to slip."

"I talked to two teams that need a receiver and feel like he’s a huge talent but also a huge risk," the NFP's Mike Lombardi writes. Bryant could ease a lot of concerns by showing up to his March 25 individual workout in tip-top shape and performing well. He's going to be a steal if he gets out of the top ten.

Jimmy Clausen-QB- Player Mar. 14 - 1:31 pm et

NFL Network's Mike Lombardi predicts that the Commanders will draft Notre Dame QB Jimmy Clausen with the No. 4 overall pick.

It's also worth noting that K.C. Joyner, the Football Scientist is on record as saying Clausen's skill set and decision making offer an even better fit for Mike Shanahan's offense than Jay Cutler. Lombardi's opinion is noteworthy, too, because he worked under Shanahan in Denver. Lombardi expects Shanahan to go with Clausen even if both he and Russell Okung are available.

totally, im from Lufkin texas too where dez grew up and i know
even some guys that knew him at high school said so too that he was late for meetings, games etc.... sound like to me he isnt motivated

so what happens when he gets that big contract

plus if he really was in shape he wouldnt have had to delay his proday but he has, that shows to me his lack of dedication to stay in shape, be on time etc, take football seriously, we dont need another bennett on the team with potential that doenst take football seriously

I really dont believe any of this. The reason is first off, I live close by the practice fields. So everytime I had to go to class I had to walk by the fields. Almost every day I saw Dez being the first one on the practice fields and the the last to leave the practice fields. Dez was always staying late practicing on the machines trying to get better. Even during games he was there for every warm up and he was the first person to lead his team out on the football field every home game. Oklahoma State fans will even tell you this. He may of been a problem in Highschool I dont know. However, some college kids do grow up. Gundy has constantly called him a very hard worker.

I know that Dez did not do well (grades) in highschool and learned his mistake because he barely made his grades to come to OSU. Once he came to OSU as a freshman he could not pick up the playbook fast enough. However, over time he got a tutor to make sure he did well in school and was able to pick up the playbook much easier and not to mention he sustained good grades in college. He was able to change his work habits.

I know Dez has been working out because here is a video of him back from January:

The media loves to make controversy. That is what they are told to do, sadly enough. You hear this every year from players like this when there is really nothing to back it up. I have read from several draft gurus and scouts that Dez is a top 10 pick. Often the bad rumors often over shadows the good things in a player. If teams did say that they would not draft him then I think its to lower his stock so they may have a chance of grabbing him.

Interesting - you managed to be at the practice fields when he arrived AND when he left. It must have been a demanding class schedule. :)

I'm sure all the Bryant news is being manufactured by the media. I mean, they have all the incentive right? Create fiction in order to hurt a player's draft stock and try to confuse NFL personnel people.

I might have bought a story that this is a planted story by a team sitting outside the top 10 that hopes he will fall. If so, his agent would be wise to get you on the horn and relay your practice field observations on ESPN.

I don't want him. Even if he is there, I don't want him.

Hell of a talent but if he is getting passed by the entire league simply because he is a lazy *** bum, Dallas does not need him.

If you look at that other thread CJ posted, SMU's WR coach is surprisingly frank in his comments on players, and he questioned whether Bryant wanted it or not.

Avoid those guys at all costs.

exactly, and i know some players that have played with dez and they have said same thing

dez needs to grow up

sure the potential is there, but again, dez knew he was suspended, he should have been staying in shape to show scouts, general managers he was serious and prove them wrong at the combine, yet what happened his pro day is now scheduled for a later date

dont misunderstand me, i am rooting for dez to turn the corner and be in impact wr, even for us if he falls, but way things have happened, i question his desire, motivation

and best i remember at his weigh in, he was 5 pounds overweight, he should have been lean and primed,

but he wasnt, why?

Ok first off I am Food Science Major so my labs are in the afternoon so I got to walk by right when practice was beginning and then get out of lab around the same time practice was ending so don't go about saying that this never happens. Obviously you have never been to college to experience a lab. The media haves to feed off of something. I mean seriously do you believe everything that the media feeds you??? You can not believe every single thing that the media tells you. They constantly say their sources says..... If this was the case how come just state where your source is coming from?? Wow I have never met a person who believes everything what the media says.

Ya I just don't know about Dez.

He might start off perfect his first couple years, but he's a player i could see cashing in in a few years and completely not care anymore.

I just like the guys that are available towards the end of the first, particularly Benn, Tate, and Thomas, that I don't like Bryant's value. I'd rather another team takes a chance with him. I'm not saying he has the upside of Bryant, but Benn looks to have a very high floor, could step in as a #2 right away and help in the return game. That's the kind of players I like, high floors with still solid potential.

I've heard accounts from someone on the team who feels differently than you do. Like being drunk at practice for one thing. No thanks to him.

Bingo, you hit the nail on the head, what do you think when he gets huge money he is going to do.

Sure its a shame that talented players like Reggie McNeal, Javorski Lane, and safety that died while playing for chargers, they had the talent, but no leadership, accountability from their head coach at lufkin high school. He let them get away with things because they were star players at high school.

Sometimes, you have to grow up you know or its too late later in life.

Like Lane, he ate himself out of a chance at pro football, was a talented rb, that at fullback was a beast, but he had in his silly head he could still play rb at 300 pounds. He wouldnt work, study and practice hard, and you saw him not get drafted.

I am hoping Dez changes the atmosphere of players not making it into pro football, because he is from Lufkin and I am too.

But we need a player with heart, determination, desire to be the best, not another Martellus Bennett that has all of the ability in the world, but he doesnt work at it and be serious about football and his profession. We need a player that can help us right away.

Dez Bryant-WR- Player Mar. 15 - 4:39 pm et

Alex Marvez of FOXSports.com writes that he "wouldn’t be surprised if (Dez) Bryant slips out of the first round entirely."

Marvez cites a recent ESPN The Magazine report that claimed Bryant was "notoriously unreliable" in college, and that "Getting him to focus on even simple tasks like attending class was a daily struggle." In addition to FOX and ESPN The Mag, the National Football Post, Cleveland Plain Dealer, and Yahoo have published negative reports about Bryant in the last month.

I agree that we don't want nor need knuckleheads, but in the off chance this kid fell to us at 27, then we have a talented enough team to take a risk and grab him.

If this kid was available at 27, I'd be shocked if Jerry doesn't pull the trigger. Who are you going to double up? Austin, Bryant, or Witten. And if we add a weapon like Dickerson, this O is borderline unstoppable, literally.

i dont mind us drafting him at 27, its a risky situation, but maybe the cowboys can get michael irvin to work with dez and instill in him the desire and intensity to be an elite wr

i just dont want another martellus bennett for first 2 years, with all potential in the world but his head isnt on right

thats why i wanted mccluster and dickerson and a very good offensive linemen with first pick, we would be unstoppable on offense then, and can run all day long too because teams cant put 8 men in the box

The best WR's in this class will all be taken from the mid 2nd round back. No point if moving around in the first to try and get any WR.
