Why did we go away from the no huddle offense, we utilized foremost against the Giants in the season opener and then very sparingly if at all the last half of the year?

I thought it was to protect the defense, but yet we still wouldn't run the ball so we were taking no time off the clock.

Any ideas?

It was undoubtedly as you stated simply: to protect the defense and try to manage the game via the clock.

The less time they were on the field the better. And that was evident even in the first Giant game where despite the turnovers, the Giants could have still won.

That does not explain the aversion to the run, but going with a no-huddle only works if your defense can stop the opponent on occasion.
