He's had a longer time without a turnover and a longer time without an interception than Tony ever has.

Romo's career QBR is 62.3 versus Dak at 81.2.

Romo has only had 1 season with a higher QBR than Dak (2014 at 83.6). His next best season was 2007 with a 66.5 QBR.

Romo hasn't play more than a few downs of preseason football in the last 12 months and got injured in the process.

Romo injured his back and when he finally came back, re-injured it.

And I wouldn't mind seeing Romo start the Lions game (provided we beat the Bucs).

a better QB than Tony Romo. I'm astonished by this premise. Begin

Fans are fickle and few are football savy. They see Dak being successful with a very strong OL and run game and unexpected quality defensive play minus a pass rush but still quality. They have not really taken into account the weakness of our schedule and the fact that the few good teams we have played laid an egg against us minus the Giants. They assume these factors OL, Running Game Defense can offset his lack of experience. They got emotionally attached are afraid to be disappointed if Romos the guy we win a playoff game they get excited then he gets injured it takes the wind out of the sails. Some actually think Dak has a high probability of winning a playoff game and will be satisfied if he does some hold out hope Dak could lead us to a SB. Dak might win a playoff game but he's not going to win a SB. Some people don't care what he does in the playoffs they will just be glad knowing if Dak does start in a playoff game Romo is gone n they wanted him gone years ago good ridens. They are afraid if Romo does play in the playoffs and is his old 2014 self they will have to see him for another year or two. Objective folks who know football know in the playoffs experience is much more important to winning than mobility they understand Romos experience gives a higher probility of a playoff win and is the only hope of SB victory baring a miricle but comes at the price of a higher risk of injury and loss of momentum. My argument is that it is a lot of burden on Dak to put the hopes n dreams of a SB victory on him he's not prepared for. He doesn't have the experience that gives him the ability to read complicated defensive schemes he is very likely to continue to struggle this could slow his growth n affect his confidence. However if Romo were to start get hurt he comes off the bench he will have a totally different perspective if he were to struggle. I think it gives him a much greater chance to be successful because Romo got hurt could not do it so why would they be upset if a rookie doesn't quite get it done, it frees him up psychologicly. With Romo on the bench healthy he feels much more pressure. He knows the "ROMO gives a a better chance" theory has some me logic to it he doesn't want that hanging over his head. Psychological factors are important people often over look them. Bottom line if you want to see Dak start a playoff game be prepared to watch him struggle. Please be aware no rookie has ever won a SB and it's very very unlikely. Dak would be more psychologicly "free" if he was coming off the bench.

Here is why:

2013 -- Ruptured disk. Romo missed a winner-take-all meeting in Week 17 against the Eagles after undergoing a discectomy two days before the game. Romo actually suffered the injury in a thrilling 24-23 win against the Washington Commanders in which he delivered the game-winning touchdown pass on fourth down. With Kyle Orton starting, the Cowboys lost to the Eagles 24-22.

2014 -- Two transverse process fractures. He missed the Nov. 2 meeting against the Arizona Cardinals after he was kneed in the back by Washington linebacker Keenan Robinson. He returned for the final two series after X-rays were negative. Brandon Weeden started against the Cardinals, and the Cowboys lost 28-17.

2015 -- Broken left collarbone. Romo suffered the injury in the second game of the season when he was sacked by Eagles linebacker Jordan Hicks, who landed on top of him in the third quarter. The Cowboys beat Philadelphia but lost the next seven games with Weeden and Matt Cassel as their starting quarterbacks.

2015 -- Broken left collarbone. In his second game back, Romo was knocked out on the final play of the third quarter, when he was sacked by Carolina Panthers linebacker Thomas Davis. While Romo's previous fractures had healed, he suffered a re-break in the healed portion. He missed the final five games of the season. The Cowboys won just once (at Washington) without Romo all season.

2016 -- Compression fracture, L1 vertebra. On the third play of Thursday's preseason game against the Seattle Seahawks, Romo was driven into the turf while sliding by defensive end Cliff Avril. After the game, Romo said he felt good and Jerry Jones said he expected Romo to be ready for the regular-season opener. Romo had an MRI on Friday, which showed the break. A source said he is looking at a 6-10 week recovery period. Rookie Dak Prescott will start in Romo's absence.

In all seriousness, can anybody name a QB around 36-37 years old who overcame that many major injuries late in their career to play at an elite level?

Peyton overcame 1 major injury in his entire career. Brady and Brees each had one in 2008 and 2005. Romo has had 4 in the last 4 seasons. These are not comparable things.

what we want does not matter.
it is all up to jg and the jones boys , it is their call to make.
all we can do is watch the games and see what happens.

Outside of the disc, these are broken bones, which have healed and did not cause any other damage. Outside of the disc, I have zero concerns about his injury history, especially in regards to it impacting his performance.

He's not. Romo is better by a longshot.

However, Romo very well may not be able to take a hit. The organization and fans hold our collective breath every time he's bumped. They say things are healed, but I want to see a large man bodyslam him a couple of times in a real game before I believe them.

I'd like to see Romo play again. I would, and I think the team would be much more dangerous on offense with him right now.

But I also can't wait for Dak to get up to speed mentally with the NFL game and take the reins for the next decade.

Everything is rosy.

Agreed the disk might limit his mobility but his arm strength is not affected nor his experience. This is ALL about ratings in a yr with the election which forced down ratings the national anthem protests pushed down ratings the rookie sensations Zeke n Dak have saved the day ! They will ride that until playoff time.

When you are in a playoff hunt, division and home field still undecided, you don't switch from a 11-2 QB to a injury prone QB that has only played in 4 regular season games going back to last season. I can understand the Romo faithful wanting to see their guy but you need to put your emotions aside and stop living in 2014, there is no proof that Romo can still be that QB.

STOP THE DAMN NEW THREADS!!!

jeezus people, your opinion doesn't need its own damn headline on this over-beaten topic every time you grace us with your "begin" crap.

you got several to dive into - go dive.
You are 100% on this man. The worst threads are the ones where the OP just types a sentence and then says "discuss". No original thought added, nothing.

Sometimes, the whole is greater than the sum of its parts.

Dak might not be a better QB than Tony at this stage in his career, but he certainly seems to be the right QB for this team. He doesn't turn the ball over, takes deep shots when necessary, and completes a high percentage of his passes. He's already got 4 4th quarter comebacks this season and he's probably not done increasing that total.

Dallas has established themselves as a run-oriented, ball control offense which seems to be the perfect fit for Dak.
