Explain to me how Osi Umenyiora goes into the same category as Anthony Smith?

I'm here watching NFL Live and like they've been doing all day, ESPN is finding a way to pull the "Motivation" theme and putting Osi into the same category of "Mr. Guarantee" and that D-lineman from SD by saying he was trash talking the Pats because of him calling out Matt Light for playing him dirty. Explain to me how that goes into the same class as some nobody off the bench guaranteeing a win? And now they're doing the "Is he out of his mind?" type thing as if Osi should be fearing his life for giving NE bulletin board material for a team that only beat em by 3 points and everyone who calls out the Pats is jealous cause they lost.

What? I just saw his interview earlier on Inside The NFL and he didn't act like that. BSPN strikes again:thumbdo:

At this point, all "guarantee" talk is irrelevant. This is the Super Bowl. If you need bulletin board material to get hyped, then something's wrong.

But I heard the Umenyiora comments, and they hardly sound like bulletin board material, let alone a guarantee.

He simply said Light said some things about him, things Light might not have said if he was expecting to see the Giants again. Umenyiora didn't even say what it is Light said.

This is a big non-issue, unless you wanna be start sum'in. ;)

BB material is HUGELY overrated.

For one, teams are generally 100% motivated to play each other-so using this BB material logic, does it make them 125% motivated?

Or take teams who are very unmotivated to begin with-how can a few words just magically make them go from 25% motivated to 125% motivated?

Bottom line-games are won by 1) game planning, 2) in-game adjustments, and 3) matchups. No matter how one team trash talks against another, if that other team has a bunch of bums, I just can't see how that much extra motivation would make them match up well with their superior opponent.

I think what they're trying to say is why would you say anything at all that might be used as motivation, of any kind, by the Pats? At this point everyone whose done any talking, of any kind, about this or that when it's come to the Patriots has fallen well short of their goal of beating them.

I think people are honestly just shocked that anyone even tries and talks, rather it's trash talk or not, about the Patriots in ways that are viewed as potential bulletin board material.
