exploiting backup corners

Remember the playoff game vs. the Seahawks where they had so many injuries to their corners that they signed Pete Hunter off the streets - and we couldn't exploit that.

And today, where they had their top 2 corners out, and all games in between, why can't we seem to exploit the other team's back up corners??? - Is it that hard? What's up with that?

I still don't think Garrett trusts this offensive line very much.

We haven't seen very many deep shots at all with Kitna. The majority of our passes have been short to medium.

I actually thought of the same thing earlier...but you're right.

I think it's more OLine play and having a backup QB at this point, but the Cowboys never seem to exploit another team's weakness.

And remember when after Romo fumbled the snap for the FG, the Seahawks got the ball inside their 15 with plenty of time and the Cowboys had their timeouts. All it took was a 3 and out to get the ball back and in good field position for another attempt but the defense broke again when it mattered, letting slow Shaun Alexander run over them to ice the game

Uh, Colt's run defense last week maybe ring a bell?

It's not like that took any special gameplanning. We just ran it and it worked because they suck...a bunch of other teams have done that to them too.

Which is the very definition of exploiting a team's weakness. We did it to the Giants in the second game as well, and we did it against the Texans in week 3.

I'm talking about specific, week-to-week weaknesses. Every team has problems, and every week the other team will try to exploit them. But when something goes wrong for another team the Cowboys don't take advantage of it.

Garrett said he called several plays to take advantage, but Kitna went elsewhere with the ball.

Maybe JG tried, but Kitna never really had the time. I think he was checking down A lot... bottom line, we didnt have the personel tonight to take advantage. What bothered me is JG commenting in his post game that or guys stopped em. Nobody said, "uh Jason you know they scored 30 points right"?

It's funny how the argument goes from "never exploit weaknesses" to " don't do it every week."

Some posters don't realize that sometimes a team just out plays you.

this is the one thing that still bugs me today. Philly had a definite weakness and we didnt exploit it at all.

Hear that noise...it is the goal posts being moved. :laugh2:

Teams know we are running the ball more now with Romo hurt. In other words perfect way to set up a flea flicker.

So either Kitna can't throw it that far, or JG doesn't have that as a play in their playbook.

I could be wrong but I don't think we have used that play since Tuna was here.

I wish they would use once in a great while...I think it would really catch some teams off guard.

people forget that the QB has to throw the ball and the line has to give him time to throw it deep....maybe kitna didnt have trust in the oline and looked for a route that opened up sooner.

What we were doing was done in order to exploit the Eagle's weaknesses. It didn't work because we didn't execute.

I like this idea. I think it should be done once a game. I'm completely serious.

You have to be a good team before you can exploit anything. We are clearly not a good team.

Kitna hasn't shown he can be consistently accurate on the deep ball.

People assume that because the QB checks down, that the receiver was actually the primary, when most times he's not.

When you watch replays from behind the offense, you can see several times where the receivers run deep, and Kitna almost immediately looks for the short route. I don't think he trusts this line either. I lived in Cincy for 6 years, and I saw this sort of thing from him all the time. A lot of completions, but not many yards.

And we have to find a way to get Miles involved again.
