Extend Gregory now

Incentive. Laden.
And exactly why would a young player and his agent accept an incentive laden contract. Gregory will be asking for just as much guaranteed money as anyone else. The delusion of incentive laden contracts is just that...a delusion!

Due to his history, he will be faced with an incentive heavy contract no matter who he eventually signs with. His agent, if he's worth his salt, will negotiate to minimize that but unfortunately for RG, it is what it is for him going forward.

They hold his rights as a restricted fa after loosing an accrued season due to the suspension. They can then franchise him. If he can make it through the offseason without a relapse, increase his functional strength and progress on his second half of this season he'll demand a contract in line with other Des.

They can demand whatever they like but no GM will risk a huge contract on a guy that's 1 strike from a potential lifetime ban. Now if the league continues to soften their stance on how they deal with substance abusers or even gets with the times and removes marijuana from the banned list that only helps his cause.

This is a lot of love for a guy that only had 6 sacks in 2018.

High yearly salary - not guaranteed and very little up front. Guaranteed as long as no suspension for the first 3 years. That would be fair. I don't think incentives other than no suspensions would be accepted.

I think he has the opportunity to be a more dominant player than Lawrence.

Lawrence pissed me off on that play on the read option by Wilson - just do your job - they just ran the play!

Definitely stepping up and being a factor. An extension at this point is laughable.

Does guaranteed money get voided during a suspension or just salary?

Man, Gregory just as likely to get a lifetime ban. Slow your roll.
I hope it’s not “likely” but it is a concern
That’s easily protected with small up front
But Gregory is not your typical player and paying the man may not be what’s best for him
He needs to prove to himself as well as others he’s changed his life
Protecting the team is fairly easy, protecting a guy from himself is hard
When he does get paid I hope he sets up something for the future

I like Gregory, he has played fantastic this year...but no way i sign a guy thats one puff away from from a indefinite suspension
That’s easy to work around
Very small bonus with injury protections for him, suspension protections for the team
Now I don’t think he’s due for another year or two though

I’m not as stubborn as some. When I’m wrong about someone, I’ll clsim it.
Randy I was wrong about you. You’re a good player and with focus, you could be a pro bowl type player.

You know who I B.

Not sure that you are wrong

Almost everyone recognized his talent but he has trashed every opportunity to display it

His small body of success doesn’t outweigh his wasted years. The jury Is still still out

However, the person a lot of people were wrong about is Jaylon. His mind was always right from the start and the physical part just took time to develop

Glad the FO stuck by Jaylon. Been pulling for him since we drafted him. Dude is pure speed and violence

Maybe one of our cap geniuses can figure out when he actually is a FA
I’m not really sure with all the suspension

Yeah, I’m not worried about protecting the team. Easy to do simply by limiting the bonus. My response is to the suggestion that he will be dominant for the next five years. Gregory is day to day for the rest of his career.

If you can't see what he has turned into these past 8 weeks then keep thinking he's only good for 6 sacks a season. He keeps his issues under wraps and he hits 12 to 15 sacks next season. Bet on it.

I think he is doing well, but I don’t see dominance or even the dramatic, must sign to extension now kind of performance people are talking about. Heck, he won’t even be an inresztricted free agent for 2 more years. Why the rush.

That is one draft pick that has paid off in a big way, gotta give Jerry credit for sticking with him.

How about the blatant holding call?!? Getting real old on he and Dlaw.
