Just curious...
Does anyone have a side gig when not doing their usual job?
Lately I have had a lot of free time on my hands and was considering doing something to earn extra money.
I still do my job Mon-Fri . I am looking for some good ideas and curious to what some of you might do. I'm not broke or hurting for money just looking for something constructive to do when I have free time.
For example detailing cars or driving for Uber on the weekends.

Lets hear it.

I used to be a bouncer on Friday and Saturday nights, but it got to the point that all those late nights, in conjunction with waking up at 2:30 a.m. on Monday had me so tired that I'd be driving down the road to NYC, and realize I just woke up. I don't do side jobs anymore.

I got a weekend job over the summer at Target about 6 years ago and found that pretty enjoyable actually. Pretty laxed and stress free environment. The permanents didnt feel that way, but when you main gig is in regulatory affairs, stocking is a nice change of pace lol

I used to do infrastructure management (servers, networks, storage, etc) for financial internet startups. (ie, financial traders or brokers to traders) It pays very well, but as I went up the corporate ladder on my day job; so did the hours and workload. Now, I prefer to spend my spare time with my GF and my hobbies.

I own half a DJ service on the side. More something to do than needing the income.

I occasionally deal poker, but even though I'm quite good at it, it bores the tar out of me so I don't like it much. Plus, one game I was dealing for on a regular basis started out OK at around $180/nite for about 5 hrs, but then the guys started getting stingier on the tips, so I left it behind.

I'd bought a air less paint sprayer one time way back& knew a couple of land lords that owned 15 to 30 properties with trailer houses on them, :lmao: some of the color schemes were 'creative' & after hitting on the right one other people in the hood would want that on their mobile home as well, the prep work was the most time consuming, washing down the metal skin with that T.S.P. crystals, it's caustic & burns yer' skin in strong solutions, I'd stopped masking windows off after the very first one, making up a couple of overspray shields outta 1/2 conduit & rectangular lengths of galvanized sheet metal of a proper gauge for stiffness,,, I think I'd kicked the price up from $200 per unit to $350 after awhile, just doing one on a weekend, I think I had a 75'hose& a 4' wand spray tip attachment,tooo_O

I got my real estate license after i retired last summer. Been doing it part time, just family and friends. Good money and and work my own hours. Sold three houses the first week of July, I've taken the !ast month off and won't go back until my daughter heads off to school in two and a half weeks.

I work as a seasonal hunting guide / outfitter mostly for whitetail deer in South Texas, but have also worked some in New Mexico. I work November and December only for that gig.

For a while I was taking loads of old metal in, but then the price dropped out the bottom, now it's no longer worth it. There were days I'd make around $1,000.

Sidenote: My uncle has taken up scraping as a hobby. Mainly to build or refurbish. Second hand must run in the family. His mother was a major Garage Sale Queen. As a kid she would take me with her every Saturday and Sunday morning during the summer and hit up at least 20 garage sales.

I worked part-time at the Bouncer Training Academy. Started off in the "Drunk and Unruly Patron" department but they said I was too affable and my unruly was just not believable. So they created a department for just my kind of drunk, the "Wants To Be Your Buddy Patron" and taught them how to ward off hugs.
