Just an fyi for those of us coming to the realization we may not keep Dlaw...I understand this isn't specific to the Cowboys, but perhaps it could be come mid April?

EZEKIEL ANSAHDL, UNSIGNED FREE AGENT Free agent EDGE Ezekiel Ansah's agent told NFL Network's Ian Rapoport teams want more information about the pass rusher's surgically-repaired shoulder. According to the agent, they will wait to sign until after Ansah's four-month appointment in mid-April. Teams are understandably cautious given Ansah's injury issues and subsequent uneven play the last several seasons, but he is still just 30 (in May) and recorded 12 sacks in 2017. Ansah could end up being a bargain.

Hes already visited some teams like N.O., so I think teams are going to be bidding; I doubt hes cheap

I've watched him a LOT over the years as I live in Michigan. Really good player when healthy. NO idea what he'll command but probably more than we want to pay frankly. Like to be wrong. If we could get him for 24 mil the next two years with not too much up front I'd do it. Then trade the Tankster to Buffalo for a decent pick. He'll love the cold winter and playing outside. Just desserts for his bush league ploy along with his 'agent'. More I think about it, I don't think we see DLaw in a Cowboys Uni again.

Pretty solid sack totals (48 in six years.) Nothing earth shattering but could Quinn and him do good work together?

Perhaps but wouldn't this mean we trying to replace DLaw by committee? What about next season coz both players will likely be free agents again. It's a tough call but this is why if you spend 3-4 developing a rookie into an ELITE player, you're probably better off getting him signed to a long-term deal.

Im not sure having two capable DEs is the same as replacing him by committee. Maybe semantics but when I think of committees I imagine several sub par - medicore players rotating in and out of the same position.

I agree with your point on retaining him. Im only looking at alternate options because Dlaw seems to be demanding a higher salary than what we can justify. This negotiation feels sour to me now, probably because of his shoulder and reports of him asking for more with each offer. I hope Im wrong on that.

I think if we dont sign him he wont be much help on the franchise tag.

Bargain for health questions has Jerry written all over it.

If he is cheaper than D-Law, then I'd bring him in and trade D-Law...

Don't worry, our GM Jerry "snakeoil" salesman is asking the tough questions, like who is Eziekiel Ansah, what position does he play, is he any good and can we sign him cheap???

As soon as Jerry has those important questions answered, he'll call someone for more advice outside the organization!

The PR right now for the FO is that they want Quinn and DLaw “screaming off the edges.”

Rather than the Quinn trade being leverage— they are actually trying to entice DLaw (at least publically) to sign and benefit from having more pass rush support from RDE to give him some better looks.

If Dallas were to court Ansah— then they are looking to outright replace DLaw. It would be a sign they are done with him and are moving on. I would rather see them come to terms with DLaw (though not at 23 mil per)— but if Tank is hell-bent on his asking price— we may have no choice but to let him walk.

In that case— getting Ansah and drafting a DE this year would be smart in terms of compensating for Tank walking. The logjam now is Tank stubbornly refusing to get his surgery. His agent is an #%* clown apparently.

Ansah has similar career numbers to Tank.

True but Tank looks to be peaking and Ansah has been hurt. This is a what have you done lately league, which is why I think you can get a possible bargain in Ansah.

Personally, I would rather get a deal done with a home grown talent who we know well (including his health) than a FA player from another team who we don't know well (including his recent shoulder surgery and health). I would take a flier on Malik McDowell if the Cowboy doctors clear him to play. Maybe a 1 year deal with Ansah but no more. I'm not giving up on the FO getting something done with Tank.

The Dez contract went right up to D Day and we got it done. If we sign Tank and he get's the shoulder surgery and can't go for Game 1, we still have Quinn, Taco, Armstrong, Crawford and the draft to get us through until Tank can come back
