Ezekiel Elliott Signs With Patriots

We’ll see if the backs we have behind Pollard can at least combine for 876 yards and 12 TDs. Those were the numbers Zeke put up last season.
Zeke was the lead back last year. Unless they truly do rbbc I don't think it's reasonable to expect the backups to have that production. YPC is a more reasonable metric which Zeke's was 3.8 last year. I would hope the backups do better than that.

Never wanted to return to Dallas

I didn't either. Not that he wouldn't be welcomed help, but I don't trust our staff to utilize him appropriately given his history here. It's rare to go from the alpha to a role player on the same team. Truth be told I'd much prefer a rookie. Too bad we didn't draft a mid round back to fill that spot. Love Deuce, but we need a banger.

I figured Zeke would hold out for a team with super bowl hope but at least he got $6Ms

good thing is the Patriots aren't very good and Belichek has been an abject failure without Brady as his QB
However good they were.. they just got a little better... And abject failure is a bit of a stretch isn't it? I mean didn't they make the playoffs the first year after he left? And weren't they right in the thick of the playoff hunt last year right up until the final week or two?

he has one playoff win in his career without Brady, Brady has a Lombardi without Belichek,

Can someone please post a pic of Zeke with this new haircut? I'm sure he'll be interviewed soon and that will make the rounds. Just curious!

Zeke was never one to shy away from contact and that was commendable. But rbs like Emmitt Smith had this uncanny ability to not take the big hit, but sort of shift and grind through the hit where it was rarely square on. Hard to explain but you know if you saw it. This prolongs a rb and health is a skill set as much as anything else is.

Belichik didn't get to pick a whole new stacked team to go to. And both Tampa and New England went 8-9 last season. Only New England did it in a division which featured two playoff teams while Tampa forged its record winning the worst division in football. Neither guy has had any success when surrounded by crap. And both have had great success when surrounded by great talent. This isn't complicated. You need talent to win. The Bucs had it in 2021.. The Pats had it for most of their run. Both teams have less of it now.

He started being phased out during the season. He had a career low in carries last season. If the backs we use behind Pollard, can’t combine for the yards and TDs Zeke produced last season our running game is going to sputter, unless Pollard can put a 1500+ and double digit TDs. The more we put on his plate the less effective I feel he will be. You have to remember Zeke’s yards per carry were down, mainly because he was being used in a lot of tough yardage situations where we only had to squeeze out a yard or two to move the chains or score a TD.
