Domestic violence investigators kept Roger Goodell at bay, sources tell B/R Mag.

But the NFL's response was missing something big: Commissioner Roger Goodell, perhaps the most powerful person in American sports.

'The NFL Really Doesn't Trust Jerry Jones'

“I suspect that the NFL took control of this investigation and put this team together because they had no confidence that Jerry Jones was going to do the right thing,” says Richard J. Gelles, a University of Pennsylvania professor who has advised Goodell.

"At the end of the day, we certainly support Zeke," Cowboys executive vice president Stephen Jones said in a pregame interview Saturday. "At the same time, we understand the very, very, very serious nature of domestic violence, certainly that people should be held accountable if that takes place."

This to me wasn't an issue of 'trusting Jerry Jones.' It was a peeing contest where Goodell could show that he's the boss and any thought that Jerry's power superseded Goodell would be put to rest.

The metadata explanation is a complete joke and really a smokescreen. It proves nothing in terms of EE actually abusing Thompson. In fact, if the NFL is so confident that the metadata proves anything, I would demand that they provide this to the DA and see how confident that DA is in arresting EE. If that's all they have, the DA will lose in court and likely it will be dismissed before it even goes to trial. And the DA's opponent in the next election could use this against him to ask the voters why did the DA try to prosecute a well respected alumni of the state university on flimsy evidence and believed a woman that lied to him and tampered with a witness?

And again, another article that neglects to mention Thompson being caught, red handed, lying and tampering with a witness. And another article that doesn't question why Thompson wasn't arrested for severely breaking a law.

This wasn't an attempt at consistency. It was an attempt to play to the public's favor.

RG wanted a football player convicted of domestic violence to show the public the NFL is disciplining its players.

What is interesting is that I was on the CPND Commanders site and was expecting them to be ridiculing Zeke and the Cowboys and pretty much just the opposite. They basically were calling out Mara and Goodell as much as we are. I think true fans of the game see how awful a decision this is, regardless of who they root for. I am willing to beat the great majority of players would back Zeke as well.

That was an interesting read. I was shocked at how many posters defended Zeke.

It was funny how they hoped the games Zeke misses could somehow be manipulated such that the Commanders don't face him week 8.

They need to imagine something like this could happen to one of their superstar players, or themselves. RAILROADED.
