The draft dept. has done a 180 under Ireland and no one should have any complaints about what is being done on draft day- however, free agency has not been kind to us the last 2 years:

1. Rivera- May go down as one of the worse FA signings in club history- we are paying this guy a ton of jack. he is nothing more than a backup at this point but makes too much to bench or cut. Its clear that it wasn't just the back injury- the guy is just done.

1. Akin- What a waste of $. He has yet to make a play and is on the sidelines more times than not as he is replaced by Burnett on all passing downs. Throw in the Carp drafting and his signing makes less and less sense.

3. TO- I don't know if he is over the hill or if the staff is too dumb to use him, or a combo of both, but we sure are not getting our 10 million worth. Anyone have some leftover popcorn?

4. Henry/Fergi- They are probably not busts but are certainly overpaid. Neither will make a pro bowl even though they are making that kind of money.

5. Hannam- Not even on the active roster.

6. Young/Fabini- Yikes.

Dude, I have to respond

Rivera has played pretty solidly this year. We're paying him a lot, and guess what, guards of his quality are pretty expensive. His salary is backloaded, and he probably won't get all of it, so hardly a bad signing.

Akin Ayodele pretty much leads the team in tackles... and Burnett comes in on passing downs as you say... because burnett plays in the nickel... you aren't very bright...

TO has done really well, and we've seen that in all parts of our offense, as we're still a top ranked offense.

Ferguson has completely helped dominate the run, we're a top 5 team against the run...

Pro bowl, are you on drugs? you think thats what matters?

Hannam is a backup... its called depth... learn it, why do you think we drafted a tight end after signing hannam?

Fabini is also a backup... do you know what depth is?

Rivera is having a pretty good year. I'd respond to more, but if #1 isn't very accurate, there's no point reading reading the rest.

PLEASE! How is TO over the hill? i saw him beat a 20 something year old former pro bowl corner by atleast 5 steps and hes still the most physical wr in the game.

Throw in marvin harrison and isacc bruce and joe horn as "over the hill" while you are at it>

Rivera is playing better then last year.....sunday he didn't look great but hes playing better so im not going to complain too much.

Akin happens to be leading the team in tackles. Don't know how you consider that a waste.

TO will make plays. Shouldn't really worry about that. Hes had some drops that have effected his production but he will get that worked out......will be remain silent, who knows but I wouldn't worry about how he does on the field...

Henry and Ferguson have been playing well.....at least I think so.

Hannam young and fabini....who cares they weren't given keys to the bank.

hehe..I'm sure Brett Favre would be more than happy to have Rivera back.

The oline gave up 3 sacks in 3 games (2 vs jax, 1 vs was).

7 sacks yesterday, but hell, Eagles sacked Eli 8 times and he managed to stay up right and bring his team back. And I HATE to say that, but you can't just blame the Oline.

Though I gotta go w/ this guy on Carp...Is he that bad in practice that Bill just won't play him much?

I don't think you realize what most NFL players make. Owens is the only one of those who is making Pro Bowl money. Rivera, Ayodele, Henry and Ferguson make about what's average for guys like them. Hannam, Young and Fabini all got mediocre backup money.

The T.O. one is interesting, and not for all the predictable talking head stuff you hear constantly on ESPN Radio and TV.
Take away all the bling, psyco stuff, bad guy crap and locker room talk about him.
In the NFL, we've all seen guys age alot in one year. T.O. is not exempt from the rules of NFL players aging. QB's and kickers' can get away with it, but I've seen alot of guys go downhill really fast (Larry Allen) like overnight.
I'm certainly not in a position to say this is or is not happening. But someone brought it up the other day and I thought it could be possible. Maybe we got him at that point in his career. It can and has happened in a single year where a guy is an all-pro and then suddenly he's just average.
I hope this isn't the case but it's a possibility. You could easily add 5 years onto this guys career just because of the stress and and shenannagins he's brought on himself.

Ahem... Vanderjagt has missed one fg in I think 4 attempts. That's 75%. We are two games in and he has hit from 46, and 52. Yeah the kickoffs are lousy... but without the league just handing us 3pts when we're in fg range, I don't know how we can be much better.

NOT. While I don't think he is playing up to expectation, he is in no way the worst signing in the clubs history. Just be glad ALL of our FA arn't treating us the way ALL FA signings treat the Commanders! :laugh2:

Akin is a solid player, just not a dominate player. The mixing in of Burnett gives a change of pace to the defense. Burnett is a better pass rusher.

TO have paid many dividends that don't show up in his stats. Look at Terry Glenn's production. Terry isn't getting near as many double coverage looks as he did last year.

Blaspheme! Jason Ferguson is playing VERY well. He won't make the Probowl because he is a nose tackle in a 3-4 defense. He (IMHO) is playing the best of the defensive line! He controls both of his gaps like no other defensive linemen. Henry has made a couple of mistake, but he is a very good player, and overall I am very happy with him!

Teague31;1082379 said:

This is not a big deal. Not everyone can play and he wasn't expected to be a starter anyhow. He is a backup and thats what he was signed for. So, in effect. He is doing his job.

Who is Young? I don't know of any players on the roster named Young. As for Fabini... Well, I think they expected more out of him, but getting exactly what he gives you.

I think you are over reacting. The sky isn't falling. Though it will if Parcells doesn't do something soon to change whats going on with Bledsoe. Our line is our line and Bledsoe will have to make plays with the pressure on. Otherwise, the season will be a bust.

Don't defend Akin by saying he is leading the team in tackles.....that is what MLB's on a 3-4 are supposed to do.......everything is funelled (sp) to them.....game changing plays is what he has lacked.....but it's early
