"Buccaneers | Beasley expected to visit Tuesday
Mon, 20 Mar 2006 21:38:17 -0800
<A href="http://www.kffl.com/link/135">Roy Cummings, of the Tampa Tribune, reports free agent FB Fred Beasley (49ers) is expected to visit the Tampa Bay Buccaneers Tuesday, March 21. The team is looking for a backup fullback for FB Mike Alstott."

I know the FB position is fast becoming obsolete, but it'd be nice to have one of the best lead blockers in the game clearing a path for J. Jones so he doesn't have to repeatedly pound himself against the line and wear himself out. Beasley isn't that terrible a receiver either.

<A href="http://www.kffl.com/link/135">Roy Cummings, of the Tampa Tribune, reports the Tampa Bay Buccaneers have offered free agent WR Marc Boerigter (Chiefs) a one-year contract, according to Boerigter's agent Craig Domann. Domann believes the Buccaneers are a good fit for Boerigter."

Boerigter is tall and has speed to burn. He's a complementary deep-threat Chad Bradford/Tim Carter-like 3rd or 4th-WR who's basically only effective on post patterns, but we do need a 4th-WR.

Boerigter reminds me of someone we never should have let go, Patrick Jeffers. Jeffers was a nice weapon in '98 as the 4th receiver behind Irvin, Davis, and Mills, never agreed w/ the decision to let him walk. We certainly could've used him that next season, that's for sure.

Who is Chad Bradford? I assume you mean Corey Bradford.

If we sign another FB it will be Sowell.

Dallas really needs to start drafting and developing WRs. What a perfect time to groom a young guy - sitting behind two terrific starters and getting a chance to catch passes from a non-baseball-project QB. In a year or two the new guy should be able to start and play well.

Agree, it be really good to add a young WR but not too sure this is the year to draft a WR in the draft. I guess it's all a matter of prioritizing; we need a FS, OT & OLB & it best we take these players on 1st day; w/o a 4th rounder, we left with only 3 picks on 2nd day which I think Cowboys will use on BPA particularly if they play DT, CB, OG, WR.

On other hand, I am curious about PS WR Jamiaca Rector. Jones mentioned this kid at least twice last year on radio/tv. Seems like his hands so good, they also use him at CB. He's 5-9/10, 186 from Southern Missouri(?); Rector is same size as Aaron Glenn & about 1" smaller & 9 pounds lighter then Terry Glenn (5-11, 195). Don't know anything about his speed/route running, etc. Last year was his first so we'll see in TC if he has any potential at WR or whether his use at CB indicative that's where he ends up.
