Since our free agency acquisitions did not affect our first round then maybe we should have picked up Nicks instead of Carr.
Why exactly should what we do in free agency dictate what we do in the draft?? The idea is to address your needs in free agency so that you can go BPA available in the draft... in this case, a scenario presented itself where the BPA available was a Pro Bowl-caliber corner...
I don't think we would've paid what the bucs paid but it might have been similar.
I see-- you think that Nicks would have signed with us even if the Bucs made him a better offer... this thinking is, of course, quite ridiculous...
Then again, so is this thread... sorry, have to be honest here...
We would then have Claiborne and Jenkins which is still good.
And of course, when Jenkins hits free agency after this season, he'd sign with us for less money than other teams are offering too, right?? I mean, it sure seems that you believe every player in the NFL would offer the Dallas Cowboys a discount for the right to play for the Cowboys...
And as I asked in a previous post, what happens if Claiborne or Jenkins gets nicked up?? Suddenly you're back to Scandrick as the starter, and nothing proven for your 3rd CB... but with Carr and Claiborne as the starters, with Scandrick and Jenkins proven corners for depth, the Boys are as close to bulletproof at the cornerback position (one of the critical positions on defense in today's NFL) as you can get in this era of the salary cap...
I honestly don't understand why you have any reservations at all about what the Cowboys did with their first round pick...
