DET's former LT and present RT Riley Reiff is a free agent. A former R1 pick from Iowa is looking for a contract $6-8MM/yr. Could DAL afford to bring in the former R1 pick and anchor the strongside of the OL for a deal? 5 years and $30MM. Curious how strong interest will be in Reiff? Could be a drop off with Reiff swapped to RT from LT?

Can't responsibly afford to keep their own (Ron Leary), much less go out and pay big money to yet another offensive lineman. They have to get a bargain at some spots.

I don't think the Cowboys would do it.

Green played really well in 2 starts at LT this past season.

Cleary was better than I expected and played all the snaps at LT in the final game. He looked good enough to be the swing OT which is what he was while Green was out injured.

If I were making the decision, I would keep Free through training camp and if Green and Cleary stay healthy and meet expectations, then cut Free. I would not be opposed to drafting another OT also.

This is supposedly a bad draft for offensive linemen. If we draft one I think it'll be late and more of a project type player.

I want to believe Cleary would be a serviceable RT with Martin on one side and a TE on the other. I want to believe Green can stay healthy. However, I would bet Free will be starting at RT for us next season with Green and Cleary backing up.

This is probably our best option. Draft a guy in maybe round 3 or 4, and go into camp with Free, Green, Cleary, and a rookie.

Give Green an implicit shot at the job in camp. Try to find an upgrade at ST to Cleary. If Green looks good, approach Free about a restructure and let he and Green compete for the snaps. If Green wins, Free's a good veteran option at that ST position for two years yet. If Green can't take it, you need to be serious about addressing OT options next year.

No way to we consider going into the season with Chaz Green's injury history at the starting position and just Emmett Cleary backing him up. That would be playing with fire.

I'm open to adding a RT candidate in the middle rounds, too, once we've addressed defense if the right guy is there.

If we were to spend money on a RT, then why not sign Leary. Trade Collns for picks and use said pick on a RT...

free's replacement is either green (if he can stay healthy) or will be drafted this year

Agree, but you could also see an OT that doesn't get the offers they want and late in the offseason decides they will take a one year deal in Dallas to play with the best OL in the game, then go back out to FA the following year. "Pillow contracts" happen all the time and Dallas can't count on it happening, but it usually does.

Green needs to remain the swing tackle because he has shown no signs in his college or pro career that he can stay healthy.

If Dallas announced him the starter it would be one of those hopeful things that they do that they know and the fans know will never work out.

I do think Green can play but he will be the Mo Claiborne of Right Tackles and give us 8-10 games if we're lucky.

Sadly, so true.

When he can play, the guy can play. But when he can play isn't nearly often enough. And now he's coming off of back surgery as well, never a good sign.

I put him in the same box with Demarcus Lawrence. Young players that I hope turn around their injury issues, but two guy I'm not getting into long term deals with either.

And that means that the team has to keep looking for guys they can rely on for the future.
