I know Stephen was quoted on his radio show, that we had the flexibility to do basically whatever we wanted in the offseason. But hypothetically, what if it came down to a choice between one or the other? Who do you take?
Personally, I take Nicks. I'm a big believer that it doesn't matter who you have at the skill position, if you don't have a good OL. JMHO.
I like Robinson, hope we can resign him. I know others have said he's easily the top priority in FA. I can only imagine the "passion" we'll see on this board if that doesn't happen. But to those who think Robinson is an absolute must, let me give an alternative perspective. SF had Josh Morgan earlier this year, who got hurt in his 5th game, knocking him out for the season. He was arguably developing into his team's top WR, even though he only score 1 TD. But Robinson's numbers in his first 5 games were roughly similar. He had 4 more catches, and about 100 more yards, but also had but 1 TD. Maybe Morgan blows up like LR did, maybe not. Regardless, the Niners have been okay since. The big differences - better OL and better defense (and possibly better coaching).
My point is, I really hope we can resign Robinson, but if we don't, I think we have enough to make up for his loss. We may need to bring in another TE or WR, but I don't think we need to make a huge investment in terms of money or draft picks to do it.
We absolutely must get better on the OL. I'd like to think that with a full offseason, the guys we have will get better. But I'm not as confident about those guys as I am about our young WR's (Radway, Holmes, Harris, etc)
