The NFL could be coming to Facebook, such that you weren’t wasting enough time there already.

According to Peter Kafka of recode.net, Facebook is among the companies bidding for the NFL’s online streaming package, which they hope to sell prior to the owners meetings in late March.

Last year, Yahoo paid $20 million to stream a Bills-Jaguars game, so it’s hard to imagine how the bidding will go for something that includes a game people want to watch.

Other bidders include Amazon, Verizon and Apple, as the league continues to cook up new ways to extract money from the game at record rates.

Love the idea but have little confidence that whichever company wins the bidding war will actually make the streaming service worthwhile. Spam all over the screen and advertisements turning a simple video stream into a resource hog that sucks.

Until the NFL releases an affordable package/subscription app, I'll find other means to watch games. Paid a lot of money for years on NFL games, no more.
