I was listening to a Lamb locker room interview yesterday and he was talking about what a challenge facing this defensive scheme is. As we all remember, it was Fangio who found that blueprint how to slow down the Cowboys powerful passing attack while in Denver. Other teams adopted the same strategy with good success since. It forced Dak to stay patient and take what is given underneath or try to fit passes into tight windows which was high risk. Many remember a few years ago, Dak was really struggling protecting the football, this scheme was part of the reason.
Dak and the offense has gotten better facing this type of scheme, having a legitimate rushing attack has certainly helped. I read a few weeks ago, that the Cowboys saw the most shell coverage in the league last season. Makes sense how the run game thrived seeing a light box often. Facing this scheme will only make the offense better and more comfortable attacking it.
