Actually, I wish they would find a replacement for Pollard and let him heal...maybe the whole season. I'm afraid that they and he will rush him too early into action possibly causing him to never regain his form. I'd rather wait on completely healed even if that is 2024.
I thought his broken leg didn't require any screws or surgery. Every time I've had a simple broken bone, it only took about 6 weeks to fully heal. The docs always said it was actually stronger when they removed the cast. That might have been BS.

I don't know exactly how long his recovery for his particular sprain takes, but it's already been 5 months.

Will he stay healthy as he gets more carries?
Who is the change of pace running back now?

He won’t be the backup anymore. Let’s see what he’s got to be the lead dog finally

Put Vaughn in the backfield with him with lots of misdirection. The defences won't know who to cover or where they are.
Vaughn will be a monster if the stoopid coaches bother to play him.

Fact or Fiction: Tony Pollard has consecutive 1,000-yard rushing seasons

I look back to the 2021 season when Cowboys Nation realized Tony Pollard was better at running back than Ezekiel Elliott.

2022 Pollard proved that point by rushing for over 1,000 yards and scoring nine touchdowns. He looked more efficient and a better fit for the offense last year.

In 2023, even with added talent at receiver, head coach Mike McCarthy made it clear to reporters back in March that he wanted to “run the damn ball.”

Now that Pollard is the lead back and will get his first full season in this role, I think it’s safe to say that the coaching staff wants to unleash number 20 more than ever, especially since he could leave after next season. This makes me believe he will hit the 1,000-yard mark again this season.

59 yards per game will get you 1,000 yards.

Whoopty freakin do.

1400 yards is the measure.

Exactly. Some guys are still obsessed with this outdated benchmark. Fifty nine yards per game. Big whoop.

Only 20 carries a game...this fan is not complaining or putting a hedge in looking forward...

In a 17 game season, he'd need to average just under 59 yards a game to reach 1,000.
So yea, he will do it if healthy.
A thousand yards for a RB isn't the benchmark that it used to be.
This. The benchmark is more like 1,200.

TP will hit that too if he's healthy, but it's still not particularly meaningful.

I'm hopeful, but I'm nervous about getting production after a leg injury and some RBs to try out. Maybe if I knew he was 100% I'd feel better. Not to mention Gallup was a bit of a let down.

Honestly I just want the run game to flourish I could care less how it does

If pollard gets the 1000 yard mark great but if he doesn’t and it’s more divided between the other backs I’m good with that as well

Fans sometime get too obsessed with the whole #1 back stuff. it hasn’t helped us since the days of Emmitt and I’m more and more convinced as good as he was he was a product of the best line in nfl history

As a Cowboys fan I am hoping it happens…but when the rose-colored glasses are removed I have concerns about our o-line being able to find consistency and cohesiveness through the season; as well as Pollard’s durability coming off surgery…making him a featured back I think would be a mistake, Dallas needs another legitimate back to share the load.

It'll be interesting to see what this means for Dallas' overall interest in the RB market. While the coaching staff has waxed poetic about incumbent starter Tony Pollard, Malik Davis and the rest of the backfield, numerous fans would like the team to add a veteran.

Aside from Elliott, Kareem Hunt, Leonard Fournette, Dalvin Cook and James Robinson highlight the best of the remaining available backs.
