Being a Yankee fan it was a bitter sweet day for me. Nothing takes top priority over my Cowboys but it killed me not to see the final game played at Yankee Stadium. I was able to switch right after the game and see some of the ceremonies on ESPN. Having like so many other Yankee fans, my own memories and experiences of the old ball stadium I would be lying to say I did not shed a tear tonight to see the old place closed down. It's one of those times I wonder if progress is at the cost of tradition. I wonder if the old place really needs to be blown up and tore down. Simple rebuild to me would seem to suffice.
With all that said, my focus shifted to Texas Stadium. Basically looking to lose two "homes" in one year and wondering just how much it will hit me when that final whistle blows at the stadium with the hole in the roof. Is Dallas also sacrificing tradition for progress and is it even progress or is it flash and bling a true money maker for Jerry. Can the old place not be rebuilt?
I know new memories will be made in each but it's hard to let go off the old. I just hope in 30-40 years from now my kids will have thje same great memories of these new stadiums as I do of the old.
