Fake FG in the works?

I noticed while looking at this weeks practice pictures that there was a pic of Dan Bailey throwing a pass. Perhaps it is just him messing around in practice, but it does look like #43 S Keith Smith is in coverage on the play.

I always look at these pictures each week and did last year as well and while this means nothing, I had never seen Bailey throwing a pass in practice before this week. That doesn't mean they don't practice it every week, of course... but I just thought I'd mention it because I had never noticed it before.

In the right situation up in Seattle, maybe we should watch for a fake FG attempt.

Maybe it's something they practice every week, but no photos were shown before.

I'm always of the belief if you have to run trick plays to win you don't belong on the field. And I think Garrett and co. feel similar because they rarely do it. Catching a team off guard with a fake punt is one thing. Fake field goals though? And then the whole botched snap thing is still on memory lol. Just line up and kick the field goal.

I'm trying to think of a time to use a fake field goal........I just can't think of one.

Maybe we just *want* them to think we're going to beat them with Bailey throwing the ball...

When you would rather have 7 instead of 3.

Garret's never been creative is mainly why we haven't some them. He's a simple minded coach, and his offensive play calling was terrible because of it. Very predictable.

Knowing our luck, Bailey will get a hamstring or groin injury while throwing a pass in practice.

I got to say, I think it is highly unlikely, but I was kind of curious when I saw the picture.

Garrett is really big on practicing every kind of situation, so maybe they practice it each week and this time the media saw it.

I can just see it now, Romo takes the snap and runs it into the end zone for a touchdown. On second thought.

Ahh I disagree. Weekend and week out I see teams constantly run reverses, millions of screen passes, wildcat......its just all gimmicky and doesn't work on a consistent basis. This may work in college but in the NFL where you have guys 280 pounds who can run a 4.5 to 4.8? I just don't see it. The great offensive minds in this league are lining up and just telling you to stop them. Did you see where Sean Payton's "trick plays" got him these past few years?

When you would rather have 7 instead of 3.

Okay and being the success rate for trick plays is rather low...when you don't get ANY points how is that better than 3? If the success rate was atleast 70% I'd understand it. I don't understand it with it being so low. Leaving points on the field is how you get fired and end up missing out on the playoffs.

Except for his surprise onside kick that worked

Is the success rate that low? I think they can be rather successful if you're not stupid about it like the Saints were with that punt.
