If you read Florio's orginal post on it, he said he got info from a league source, and referred to the rumor posted on the aforementioned blog as "poo-on-the-wall". He said he was told the Browns were interested in Cutler. He further said that he was confident that word of such a trade would not leak if it were imminent, just as it didn't with the Winslow trade. All he reported was that they were interested in Cutler.
And one of the links that they use to try to prove someone using their rumor was someone copying Florio's entry, not their own.
I'm the last person to defend Florio, but the thread debunking the rumor and mocking the supposed people who ran with it is just as disingenuous as the original fake story.

Well there have been the rumors that the new GM and COach are not all that enamored with Quinn or DA (CRennel certainly did not seem to like Quinn)
so if you add to that the fact that Cutler has diabetes and with that you have to think about long term effects beyond the next year or two then it would be possible for the new coaches at Denver (who also had nothing to do with getting Cutler) to maybe just think that this was on the edge of being a possibility.
