Falcons re-sign Harrington to new 2-year deal 1 week after cutting veteran QB

ATLANTA (AP)—The Atlanta Falcons re-signed quarterback Joey Harrington only one week after cutting the six-year veteran.

Harrington signed a new two-year deal on Wednesday. Terms were not released. He had signed a two-year, $6 million deal last year.

The 29-year-old started 10 games last season, but returns as the possible backup to Chris Redman, who ended the season as the starter and also recently signed a two-year contract.

D.J. Shockley is the third quarterback, leaving the Falcons’ options at quarterback the same as when they began the post-Michael Vick era last season.

I think they finally looked at the QB depth on their roster and went "UH OH". Even worse for Harrington, he got so little interest he actually crawled back to them and accepted the deal.

I thought it was bad move when they dumped him. They need a solid vet.

The sign is a good move. But they are still gonna suck.

are you guys serious?? Why is it a smart move by ATL to sign Harrington back? the guy sucks. i don't know who is worse, him or grossman or Boller.. They do need a QB like him to hold the clipboard on the sidelines..

I don't know when Vick is going to be allowed back in the NFL but I would betcha that he ends up back in Atlanta. They still love him there. I think it is the one place that the fans would welcome him with open arms. There are not going to be many other cities that would do that.

Just because you say "no way" doesnt make it so.

There is a very good chance that he is back with Atlanta. Are you not aware of how the world works... especially nowadays.
