Falcons move Jenkins ahead of Price

The Falcons have placed Michael Jenkins ahead of Peerless Price at the position now officially known as "guy who runs around waving his hands while Mike Vick tries to see over the linemen until he eventually tucks and runs or dumps it off to Alge Crumpler."

Florio was pretty funny today.

Good point, and make that one ALLEGED mistake.

Vick has worn the mantle of Arthur Blank's poster boy well. The only marketing I have seen built more around a player was Michael Jordan in Chicago. Blank even has Vick recorded messages sent out to season's tickets holders, in his attempt to revive the fanbase and revenue, so when they come home, they an get the shill straight from Michael. Blank proved a genius with his selling of Home Depot as America's Store, and he is taking the same approach with his franchise. Sometimes the hard, sometime the soft, but the continual sell.

And at heart of it is the rare physical talent of Vick.

There is just tremendous pressure on this kid, more so than on young Manning, or Rothelisberger or Leftwich. IMO, he is holding up very very well, He takes constant heat for being 'over-hyped", tho 'hyped' is a passive verb....it's other folks hyping him, for THEIR benefit.

I love the kid myself.. he's never going to be what the passing purists like, but he's a winner.

Yah, he does have to step it up, but I continue to be amazed any QB so short (in any kind of offensive system) is remaining viable in today's game.

I agree he is hyped because the media hypes him, never once has Vick stepped on the field and said he was a top QB said he was like Jesus, or other stupid comments, this man keeps his mouth shuts goes on the field and lead his team to victory by any means nessacery, but people continue to talk down on him and call him overrated and overhyped.

Vick was drafted in 2001-- 2002, 2004, and 2005 makes it his 4th season. This is if you don't count the 6 or so games he played in 2003.

Year 4 is the unofficial bust mark for a top QB pick. Aikman, Elway, and Bledsoe led their teams to the Superbowl in their 4th seasons. Other #1 overalls like Steve bartkowski and Peyton Manning proved themselves through repeated excellence over time. Tim Couch and Jeff George were busts, off their teams before even reaching their 4th year.

Vick's legs have bought him time, but they've also cost him a season (2003) as well. If you ignore 2003, then this is his make or break 4th season.
Regardless...
as we have seen - Vick is probably the most valuable player in the league to his team. Atlanta was horrible without him.

They were in the NFC Championship a year later with him.

Michael Vick may not ever develop into a pure pocket passer... (although I think he will develop into a darn good passer)...
but he brings so much to the field in other aspects of the game that you will never be able to label him a bust.

And if he does turn out to be a bust, I'm sure Valtrex would hire him for some commercials.

I was talking to a friend the other day and we disagreed on this...I thought Vick had lost a in the passing side of his game since college. Either it was the competition or he has gotten worse at passing accuracy. but he has not impressed me as much as he did at Tech. My buddy thought it had to do with the constant changing of the Offensive coordinators.

As far as Price, what a bust. had him on my fantasy team last year and he stunk. Roddy White will take his spot soon as well.

Make no mistake, I am rooting for Michael Vick because, well, I like him. But without a doubt this season the pressure is on him big time. Each NFC South team has Atlanta in its crosshairs. Aaron Brooks is probably more desperate to win than Vick, Cadillac Williams is a Buc, and Carolina just re-tooled with Lucas and Wahle and Jenkins and Smith returning.

If Atlanta loses, it's Michael Vick who will shoulder the blame.

Vick is a superb football player and he is still growing as a QB. He will be downright scary year two in the same offense. Nothing p*sses off a DL more then a 3rd and long converted by a QB with wheels. Here you are rushing the passer with all you got only to see him elude you and scamper off with an impossible first down pick up. In time his reads will be better and there won't be an NFL defense that can stop him. When Steve Young (hate his guts) was at his apex it was a thing of beauty. I can see Vick playing that type of game and being much better at it.

I'm not convinced Peerless Harper is ever going to be anything close to a No. 1 receiver. He may even be out of the league sooner than later.

Oh he'll be here, he'll be here all right. :lmao2:

Price caught 100 (or whatever) passes from Bledsoe in 2002!
If a Price/Ellis trade were to materialize some here would have to leave; Nors's head will see to it. :)

Me either, he did ride Mould's coattails but he had one helluva ride.

I can honestly see Price here.................next year.

I think he'll be a cap casualty next Feb. If we want him, I think we can get him.

I smell a Price trade...Calling Nors are you there Nors? :D
I'd take Price here in a heartbeat given we know that he has a good chemistry with Bledsoe. The two of them really seemed to click together in 2002.

Vick = playing the wrong position in backfield

Price = over-rated in Buffalo, not a #1 WR
