Fan TC Report: I Told You Guys I Went To Training Camp

I don't read much in the media that is as good as our own fan reports on the Zone. Thanks to Apollo, CC, Cooter and the others who have reported.

A lot of those guys used to be good when they were hungry. Now it's some mundane and routine for them, they treat it like a job. That's why I think they need to have a greater job turnover rate at these positions to keep things fresh, keep passionate people reporting what fans want to hear.

Instead, they justify keeping these people around because of the numbers, when in reality the numbers are going to increase each year because of sheer volume of papers being printed on and offline.

I mean it when I say, I know 10 guys on here that I know for a fact could step right in tomorrow and write for DMN, FWST, DC.com, etc and you wouldn't be able to tell they're 'amateurs'.

Thanks ma man. If you go back try the 50 yard line the seats are easy to get they run drills all over the field and you will be right over the tunnel where the players come out. I'll be there on Monday and probably Tuesday.

Your post reminds me of something the players stated was a difference between Garrett and Wade. Apparently players would mess up a drill and Wade would just move on. Garrett OTOH would make them do it again until they got it right.

I believe in Garrett.

Coaches that make you get it right will be appreciated by the players. Reps are good but good and accurate reps are vital to success. Piss Poor Preparation Promotes Piss Poor Performance.

Thanks for the report AC.

Great to hear that Lee looks bigger. You knew he wasn't going to just sit on a coach in the off season.

I stand corrected I thought he was a 4.5+ guy coming out.

He just doesn't look it on the field is my point, Steve Smith must be a 4.1 guy then the way Scandrick moves in pads covering him.

Smith would mostly tear us up across the middle. You can thank the subpar play in our secondary for that.

The onus is definitely on Scrandrick right now to prove himself at corner. He's had enough experience by now to have a better handle on it than in the past. I don't believe he lacks the athleticism but if there's any deficiency, it may be his instincts and/or ball skills that are lacking. We'll soon see how he can handles his newfound CB spot.

Love our fan reports. Much appreciated Apollo!

I agree. The sports writers, especially ESPN, are negative for the most part, or at least neutral about the team's fortunes.

Nothing about Pee Wee Herman or the circus atmosphere Jerry allows? You Jerry apologist.

j/k AC, thanks so much for the report. I agree with what you said about how this becomes mundane for the media, but we as fans eat it up. It's like they aren't excited to be doing what they are doing any more. Wish it was me, because I would stay excited forever.

I remember you telling a story about that to me and Dale when we were chowing on some Mexican food.

Gonna try to get up with your boy if I can make it back to San Antonio. So mad I can't go back today, but I'm gonna be back before I leave next weekend for sure. Work on what I sent you on Fb and I'll see if the resident celebrity pundit can pull some strings.

Yep...Good times bro.

A little discipline goes a long way. When I played, with the same team and different coaches, we went from mediocre 5-5 team to winning consecutive conference championships and a national title. Every since then I became a firm believer that you play how you practice, so you should always practice how you play.

Red is going to ensure that we are going to be disciplined in our approach, this will pay dividends on the field.

We have championship talent in the most essential elements of winning on our team. It was clear that we lacked direction until Red took over.

The chicken littles are going to be disappointed.:laugh2:

That's why I'm glad we are flying under the radar, no expectations, and a lot of teams are gonna sleep on us this year.

But in regard to talent, I don't know many other teams that can say they have 2 first ballot hall of famers on their roster. With about 6 other guys with the potential to go to the pro bowl - Romo, Free, Ausin, Bryant, Gurode, Jenkins, Etc.

We have the best punter in the league, a deep stable of young backs, the best TEs in the league, arguably the best WRs, a 10 QB, etc

I've seen people do much more with far less.

You are preaching to the choir. We have great talent at LT (pro bowl talent), Pressure Player (on pace for the hall of fame), CB (pro bowl talent), QB (pro bowl talent), TE (on pace for hall of fame), NT (pro bowl talent)...

Give a good coach who instills discipline the above ingredients, they will win way more than they lose. We all know that the more you win, the more your chances increase of winning a championship.
