Fans blaming Dak

Does it have to be one or the other? Isn't it possible, and in this case even probable, that both the defense and the quarterback stunk?

The Cowboys and the Giants both had the same number of possessions in last night's game. I think you could make a very strong argument that Dart was significantly more effective managing his team's possessions than our 11th year veteran quarterback was. I'm not defending the defense, but this mindset that just because the defense was bad means Dak is automatically absolved of any responsibility just doesn't make sense to me and never will

He's getting paid $60 million per year. At bare minimum he needs to look better than Jaxson frigging Dart. And last night he didn't.
No kidding. Anyone with any sense knew this defense would only get to average at best this first year. The whole basis for optimism was that average would be good enough on defense because we'd have a top 3 offense to carry the team.

Sure didn't look like a top 3 or 5 offense last night.

But they did get another patented Two Scores Down TD late to make it look closer than it was.

Dak had some bad plays, if you like him they where out of character if you don't they were normal Dak... either way your LOS got raped, you don't win NFL games getting manhandled like that especially when the other HC is a student of "I'll run it again"... you had the broadcast team calling the Giants offenses the 90's Cowboys...
You and I were watching the same game!!!!!! The front office...in the post Jimmy Johnson era.... builds teams looking to add the next #88 or #94 etc...because selling jerseys is what this front office does best...which makes it easier for fans to point to an individual (and Dak is the easiest target) after a loss..while Jimmy Johnson...who is a REAL football man...focused on building teams.

Obviously no that was on the defense

But when we had the first possession of the first half what did we do with it? We had a chance to go out and set the tone right? What happened?

3 and out, that's what happened. So I'll pose the counter question to you. Did our defense produce a three and out and a quick punt to open the game and set the tone?

Again, politely but firmly, your perspective is that this is never Dak's fault. And that perspective is going to Cloud your analysis whether you admitted or not.

You lost any pretense of subjectivity when you declared Dak to be "above average" in last night's game
He sucked. The defense sucked too. Let's move on
You do not know my posting history if you think I am a "it's never Daks fault" fan. I've only recently come around on Dak because as I looked around the NFL...there was only one Patrcik Mahomes and we are not lucky enough to have him...so can we build a TEAM that has a top 10 QB and win. And a top 10 QB with the worst defense in the league is NOT going to get it done. A middle of the road defense is what I was/am hoping for and let's see what happens. But by the looks of it (and I know it's early)....we are not going to be a middle of the road defense this year.

You didn't answer any of the questions from my post

And if you think Dak looked like a top 10 quarterback last night you're biased and I don't know what else to tell you.
There will be 16 winning QBs in week 1. Are all of them top 10?

He is the “biggest problem” in the sense it’s year 12 now and the offense has been catered to his skill set for years. When the Giants in the previous years were blowing coverages, it wasn’t their sucky defense, it was the “powerhouse” offense..

Dak, as usual, puts points on the board when the game is essentially over, defenses soften up and now with “gambling”, the league most probably plays for the spread…. It is becoming common-place on this league for teams that are getting pummeled to “make the game interesting” by the fourth quarter to be “coincidence”..

If you are trying to sustain good football in the playoffs to make a run, you can’t continue to do the same things year in and year out..

I don't think he's been the biggest problem, and I certainly don't blame him for last year. But that pick was inexcusable and completely screwed over a defence that was actually showing a pulse with the takeaway. That was a throw id expect from a rookie.

And by the way...the numbers are out. Dallas the WORST week 1 defense in the NFL. Is that what you thought BEFORE the numbers were released? Because I watched a lot of games yesterday...and as I watched Dallas last night...I was horrified watching the defense. I was not overly impressed watching our offense last night...but watching our defense was jaw dropping...and not in a good way.

Again you're ducking my questions and I don't blame you because you're arguing on emotion and not logic.

I'll ask again, Did Dak look like a top 10 quarterback last night?

Simple question that you refuse to answer. We both know why

What #s? Please show the numbers you're referring to

On the behalf of 90% of Cowboys fans, can Rayne Dakota please stop with this attempt of a spin move where he turns his back to the field of play?

He almost always turns right into a defensive lineman and winds up heaving it to the sideline.....or sometimes doesn't reach the sidelines and gets intercepted.

And the "hard-counts" are laughable.....they all know it's coming and your cadence ain't Aaron Rodgers.

Just stop,stop, stop it!!

PS.....on a side note, I thought your new commercial was lovely

Every star player on the Cowboys needs to give back a paycheck from last night. Lamb, Pickens, offensive line heck just make it the whole team!

so now you admit he is not top ten?
If you don't think that Dak is a top 10 QB in the NFL...we can't talk football. And this is not me being a Dak defender OR lover. I watch the entire league..and I know we generally have a top 5 offense and Dak was the NFL MVP runner up 2 years ago. Is you guys hate for Dak so deep we can't just keep it about football? Again, I know who Dak is...he is not the best....he is not top 5...but he is a top 10 NFL QB. If that's not good enough...we can have that discussion. But lets not act like Jacoby Brisett, Geno Smith...Carson Wentz, Kirk Cousins....who won games yesterday....are better than him. Do you think the Chargers are thinking Jacoby Brisett is better than Justin Herbert because they lost to the Cardinals AT HOME yesterday?

I mean it was a difference of maybe 20 yards (assuming good specials teams which I assume good nothing based on yesterday) and about 7 seconds. The Giants went 55 yards in 29 seconds (leaving 20 seconds to spare). I somehow doubt the additional yards change anything especially when even if you make it a FG its still the exact same problem where the Giants are able to score a TD on every drive so you cant come back (and only 2 possessions in second half anyway).
Suddenly your defense has to return to the field when it appears we would at least run the clock out. It is never that simple. Turnovers either win or lose you games. Imagine if the Cowboys came up with half of the Giants fumbles instead of only one. That Downs sack fumble could easily been returned for a touchdown but the out of possession offensive lineman happened to have the ball drop right in his hands.

6 offensive possessions.

Scores on 3 of our last 4 drives with our grand whopping 6 total offensive possessions.

That says all.
Again I state that our 2nd possession was gifted by 2 huge PI calls, not effectiveness of our offense. No, the O wasn't entirely to blame but they were all awfu, but not setup to succeed with the disgusting D once again

Based on EPA/drive, the Cowboys had the worst defensive performance by any team in Week 1.It was worse than all but one of their defensive games last year. Among 574 games since the start of last season, it ranked 571st.7 possessions: 4 TDs, 1 punt, 1 fumble, ran clock out.

You invite the 'Dak Suck' trolls, you just get easily triggered by every post that doesn't deem Dak as God like.
Nobody has designated Dak as being the reason for the defeat, but his performance can still be deemed average, at best.

Dak Vader to the defense of Prescott and the Cowboys way, the bigger the stakes the lousier he plays.
That’sa good one but you’re a defensestan coming to the rescue of the historically bad D. And I never said Dak was great. The dakidiots always go to the extremes with him and the Dak defenders go to the other extreme.
