Fans blaming Dak

Dak was not very good last night. He certainly contributed to the loss. It is not his fault alone but that INT late in the first half was such a dumb mistake that veterans like himself should not make.

Dak was Dak. Decent, but not good enough last night.

He's still a top 15-18 quarterback in the league.

If there is ever a point where we slip into a chance at a superbowl apperance Dak will be the one that crushes all Cowboys fans heart. So it may be best we don't get close while he's our QB.

You invite the 'Dak Suck' trolls, you just get easily triggered by every post that doesn't deem Dak as God like.
Nobody has designated Dak as being the reason for the defeat, but his performance can still be deemed average, at best.
I am not triggered. This is a discussion forum...and I don't think Dak is a God. But I stand firm that as I watched last night, the numbers are out and they confirm what I thought I saw. I did not see a HOF performance from Dak...but while I was watching the game...it never crossed my mind that this is an awful performance from Dak...like I thought watching Dak against Green Bay in the playoffs a few years back. The numbers confirm that the Dallas defense had the worst showing in week 1 and one the worst performances in the last 2 years!!!!!! And as I watched last night...my INITIAL thought was....this defense is atrocious.

Prescott wasn't great. He needs to be WAY more comfortable. Sure the O line struggled, but Prescott beat them with his legs a couple times, NY wasn't that amazing. They just played harder.
The INT was arguably the most unnecessary INT I've seen in a while. I expected the run game to be non existent, and I was right. Jags. I actually expected much more from the defense. They were lost.
Blaming one player is just stupidity.

Was listening to The fan today and one of Dak's biggest fans , Bobby belt, thought Dak got a thumbs down for the game.

And the whole radio team laughed at this week's bogus, ESPN-manufactured QBR numbers. Those can be so nuts on a one-game basis.

Dak's NFL Passer rating was 22nd, fwiw.

Even if it's somewhere in between in fallas more toward the middle...which is fair

On to the next game!

Let's take the loss and the poor play of the defense off the board for a second. One question. When the game was still in doubt, what is your opinion of Prescott's throw when Lamb got behind the defense for a sure touchdown?
We could do this all day, play hypotheticals. What if there wasn't 85 yards in penalties? What if the run game existed? What if the O line was average? What about the drops?
It was a complete team loss.

Based on EPA/drive, the Cowboys had the worst defensive performance by any team in Week 1.It was worse than all but one of their defensive games last year. Among 574 games since the start of last season, it ranked 571st.7 possessions: 4 TDs, 1 punt, 1 fumble, ran clock out.
Panthers would like a word. I kinda always thought yards and points were the determining factor in how good a defense performed.

PS--Did Dak look like a top 10 QB last night?

Asking for a friend.

I did not pose the question to you. You have not answered the question not posed to you.

My question was indeed about a single play, but you defined it as a criticism. My question was prompted because I seeked the thread creator's opinion. The thread creator stated,

"If you are blaming Dak for this loss....you should be banned from talking football. This defense was a sieve."
I prefaced my reply to the thread creator (which you quoted) stating it was not being presented as a critique of Prescott losing the game and acknowledged the defense's poor play during the game.

I sought to talk about football. Football involves numerous elements, of which include a quarterback's accuracy throwing passes.

I made two posts within this thread, literally entitled Fans blaming Dak, before my reply to you. I am a fan. I have not blamed Prescott in this thread. In fact, these are the sum total of my posts since the start of the game:

1. "Almost nothing disgusts me more than a receiver dropping a catchable pass." This was a criticism of George Pickens.

2. "Yep. May as well have taken a knee." This can be taken as a criticism of Brian Schottenheimer electing to end the half without trying for better field position to make a field goal attempt.

3. "haha. Maybe Mike Tomlinson hanging around the stadium is messing with George Pickens' inner joy. ...or at least I wished that was a reason for the drops." This was a half-<expletive> joke that was reaction to Pickens case of the dropsies.

4. "Trying to get back into the game. So you taunt. Dumb idiotic stupid nonsense." That was a criticism of Javonte Williams making a complete selfish decision committing a useless penalty BEFORE Brandon Aubrey attempted what should have been a routine extra point kick to get the team within seven points WITH A LITTLE LESS THAN 5 AND A HALF MINUTES LEFT IN THE <EXPLETIVE> GAME.

5. "You have been selling the conspiracy all game. I would buy into it more if I have not seen this same story for decades now." This was a reply to fellow member making an excuse for the TEAM'S poor play.

6. "Almost zero grit shown all four quarters." This was my reflection of the TEAM'S poor play.

7. "I hope the paintball culture gets installed before the season ends." This was my reflection of this franchise's culture that produced the execution and effort demonstrated in the game.

8. "...which nearly took three additional minutes to cement. Minutes that were becoming more and more precious trying to secure a comeback win." This was my response to another fellow member who did not also directly answer my question that you replied to.

9. "Please tell me you were also thinking of actress Parker Posey's name too. That would be genius." This was a reply to a fellow member making a playful criticism of Christian Parker's defense.

10. "That was a quick honeymoon." This was sarcasm of a fellow member for a completely obvious reason.

I will not stop making posts on this site regardless how anyone here might disagree with whatever I say. I will comment on any subject as I so choose. That includes any comments concerning Dakota Rayne Prescott. However, I must continually remind myself that CowboysZone will always be CowboysZone even when I ask a base football question related to him.
I see you were making a point about the other posters comment. And no I didn’t agree with it either. I see now the point you were trying to make. I never meant you shouldn’t criticize Dak. Trust me there is plenty to criticize. I guess I’m just sensitive to the extremes posters go to to bash Dak and tired if seeing it. And no, you’re not one of them. Of course that’s not to say that they can’t be extreme on a public forum, but I can criticize them too. :muttley:

I came here because I kept seeing it the game thread...and I am scratching my head thinking "what game are you all watching". If you have it out for Dak...there is NOTHING he can do. This defense from the coaches to the players were TERRIBLE!!!!
You can throw it out of bounds. Anywhere out of bounds past the LOS. Rookies know better and can handle a sideline pass.

You asked for proof...I gave it to you...before I answer YOUR question...I need you to respond to the EPA/drive report
I been asking if Dak looked like a top 10 QB for 4 pages.

And there's no report to respond to. You never posted it.

Carolina gave up 60 yesterday and yet you're complaining about the Cowboys defense being worse for giving up 28. 7 of which were directly attributable to Dak.

Laughable. Done here, got work to do.

My assesment of Dak as a top 10 QB is not about last night. He has enough skins on the wall to be considered a top 10 QB. Witness his runner up NFL MVP 2 years ago. I keep telling you I am not a Dak lover or hater. I keep telling you I know who Dak is. I keep telling you that you really don't watch the entire NFL if you think Jacoby Brisset, Geno Smith, Carson Wentz, Kirk Cousins are "better" thank Dak simply because they won yesterday. But here is what I do know...Dallas defense was the WORST in franchse history last year...and they have picked right up where they left off with one of the WORST performances of week 1.

As someone said earlier, the Defense stinking and Dak not playing well can both be true.
