so ive been in southern cali for the past seven days and i loved our fans showing their support for our team. my girlfriends dad is a huge 9ers fan and i was giving him stuff about our fans being more abundent than his and he said cause we were in so cal that we wouldnt see 9ers there so i said i bet we see more people supporting the cowboys than any other team...what i ment was any NFL team but...he took that literally and put 100 bucks down saying if we saw the cowboys more than any other pro team it was mine.

well i didnt win but i was very impressed with our showing. so here is the break down

NFL

cowboys-19 7 shirts 6 jerseys 5 hats and one cowboys blvd. street sign in a car window

raiders-6

broncos-5

chargers-5

cardnials-2

eagels-1

steelers-1

now the over all winner that made me lose was the dodgers. they had 43 fans and let me just say i rarely saw just one or just one dodgers gear on, it was usually a whole family with both shirts and caps on.

anyway nobody else came close and i wont bore you with the break down of every team across the sports spectrum(unless you want me too) but my point was that i am really pleased to see the fans out and about outside of texas:D

oh by the way we visit my GFs cousins in san diego who are un godly rich and the wife is the biggest female steelers fan ever and the husband a huge packers fan and the pick up a piece of memorabilia a year so seeing their game room...along with their vince lombardi signed pigskin...was pretty much the highlight of my trip.

There are a couple of reasons for the Dodgers being so popular right now:

1. They are the only team based in L.A. that is playing right now. During basketball season you will see a lot more Lakers stuff. Not having a pro football team means you are gong to get fans of teams from other areas. You would also see a lot more USC & UCLA stuff during the NCAA football & basketball seasons (I realize you were just doing pro teams).

2. The Dodgers are doing great right now, for the first time in a long time. Like anything, people come out of the woodwork when their team is doing well. Cowboys fans are no different, although there is a larger base of "real" fans who will support their team regardless of whether we are 5-11 or just won our 3rd SB in 4 years than for any other FL team.

3. The larger Mexican gangs in L.A. have adopted the Dodgers gear as their unofficial "colors" so you will see a lot of Latinos wearing their gear (whether they are gangmembers or not). The same was true of the black gangs in the 80s & early 90s when the Raiders were there. You still see some of their stuff around but it is mostly gangmembers who wear it these days.

You should have clarified that you were talking about NFL teams and you would have won that Benjamin. :D

I grew up in L.A. but moved to the Raleigh area 17 years ago. We went to a Cowboys game against the Panthers in Charlotte a few years back and about 40% of the fans in the stadium were wearing Cowboys gear! When we made a big play it sounded like it was a home game for us.

yeah i only noticed a hand full of latinos wearing dodgers stuff and it was always black not blue but it was ALOT of families.

i was in san diego as long as LA and i saw more dodgers then padres there and saw way less chargers stuff then i expected

i also had a side bet about usc over ucla cause her dad went to ucla and i thought usc was a lock but they tied with 10 each so i lost that one too lol.
