fans, jacquee taylor was on, and he said from what he saw last year and this year, that wade doesnt like to use regular players on special teams, but backups.

jacquee said that wade may have to change his philosophy and get veteran players on special teams,

so you add in losing keith davis whom was released by dolphins today, nate jones and jacuee reeves, and the kicker not kicking right, add all of that, and you have or could have bad special teams play

so what do u think now?

jacquee was on smoakys show if you want to listen to it, go to www.ktbb.com/cowboys then find link there for jacuees taylor

Didn't we use backups when Parcells was here and it was one of the better units in the league?

Taylor is full of it....the main reason our special teams suck is the coaching...Bruce Read needs to go. Phillips needs to light a fire under all special team players and get a strong coach like Avezzano was in the 90's.

Christ, we already lost Austin. How many more starters or potential starters do you want to put in harm's way? And if these backups can't even get ST right, why the hell are they on the team?

Amen. It is coaching, not players. Dallas has more talent than most teams so it is not players....

Bruce Read sucks as ST coach.....go get someone like Avezzano...eyes blazing, hair waving, screaming with intensity 24/7. He was fun to watch and his ST were intense -- reflection of his style and what he coached.

Exactly.

If you're not good enough to start, and you suck at special teams, then ....

It's a combination of everything. JJT said once Davis signed with miami that we would miss him terribly. He's spot on so far. Wade is going to have to play starters on this unit. We're giving up to many big plays and field position on ST.

Keith Davis was here last yr, and the coverage units sucked then

its screwed up more than what adding one guy is going to fix. it isnt the players.

Besides, Davis is not that great of a special teams guy anyway...he is a good ST, but he is nowhere near what a guy like Bill Bates or Kenny Gant was.

He maybe onto to something, that Jacquee dude.

We should have Romo punting, like Danny White used to. TO and Newman as gunners, Tank as the protector, Marion and Felix on the wing, and fill it out with Henry, Witten, Zack, Demarcus, Greg, Roy and Hamlin.....oh and Frechy the snapper. There that solves all our problems.

Last thing you want to do is use backups like Carpenter, Burnett, Spencer, Brown, Ball, Watkins, Bennett, Curtis, Rogers, Scandrick and Jenkins on special teams.....they're too valuable on the sidelines for that!

I agree, you need someone borderline crazy with intensity, the Avezzano years had that. They need to use whoever they have to to correct this problem.

If I'm not mistaken Woody and Roy were on Parcells special teams units too. I could be wrong though.

here is the other thing....your 4th, 5th and 6th WRs have to be contributors on coverage....Stanback has proven he is too brittle to be on special teams and miles is starting to look to valuable as a WR to risk.....so here is another prediction...by the time we start the season next year either Stanback or Ausitn will not be on this team.

Just out of curiosity, are we mixing and matching a bunch of different players on coverage teams? It seems like that would be relatively easy to do, since coverage is just a matter of staying in your lanes and making the tackle, so there wouldn't need to be a lot of coaching that needs to be done.

The reason I ask is because maybe that's exactly what they're doing, purposely mixing up a bunch of different player combinations comprised of these second and third-stringers, see who stands out, and get rid of those who can't even play ST correctly. Could be the clearest way to see exactly who is making an effort and who is capable of playing in this league and who is not.
