A friend who has never played before asked me which sites are best. It dawned on me that maybe I don't exactly know which ones are best.

Please post the URL of ones you like.

Yahoo would be the best if stat tracker was free:D

I run my league on Yahoo and join many more on there as well. As far as gathering information, there are tons of sites any more. I normally stick with the more mainstream ones like Fox and CBS. One thing I don't do is run to the grocery store or book store and buy something. What a waste of time and money.

cbssportsline >>>>>>>>>> yahoo
exactly, it's not even close. i've been playing fantasy football for years and years, i usually have 3 teams a year, and i've tried every single site out there..

nfl.com (which is the same thing as cbssportsline.com) is by far the best. and it's free. it used to cost $10 a team and i thought it was easily worth it then. but now that it's free, it's far and away the best site you can use. trust me, Hos.

Pretty much agree with these guys, I usually play 2-3 teams a year and I'm usually in FoxSports or CBS Sportsline.

Fox does always seem to have a lot of bugs in there system and it can get frustrating, but if u want to make ur own scoring system and settings for the league it's free here. That's the upside to Fox.

CBS Sportsline has in depth info, cuz it's partnered with the NFL. But u have to play by their rules unless u r willin to pay.

One site I always have liked is Fantasy Index. In order to access their best features you have to buy their fantasy magazine. To me, the really critical info is injury reports. That is where no site truly stands out. There are too many times where someone is a game time decision for an afternoon game and your lineup is due in before a morning game. I can't tell you how many times that scenario has bitten me in the butt one way or the other. Either I start the guy and he doesn't play, or I don't and he performs better than the guy I used instead.

The only two I have played are yahoo and a pay site called fanball (formerly exit42). I like yahoo because it's free and fanball because I can get 4 teams for only $20 and I have been using that site for over 10 yrs.

I have never tried the cbssportsline one because I have been trying to cut back on the number of teams but it's not really working. lol

fanball

just type in fanball.com and check it out.

10$ gets you 2 teams, your leagues commisioner has to imput the data after the draft as far as players but they do everything else for ya and have other options like insiders edge and so forthif you want to pay for that. some good articles too, and constant updates on players injury status and availability for games for free.

Yep, Fox's scoring system is awesome in it's customization. The bugs, however, forced us to abandon that league after 2 or 3 weeks. After reading the Commish message boards, it appears that those bugs are an annual problem w/ Fox. They do have free live scoring, though. We moved to ESPN and, while it doesn't have the customizing features of Fox or the live scoring, it was far more stable. Being a control freak, I hated CBSSportsline/NFL.

The Huddle is a good site for general info/projections, etc. Most of their info is only available to paying customers, however. I've paid their fee for going on 4 years now, though.

I like the Yahoo leagues. The draft system is polished which may be the same across the board. I even pay the $10? for the live stats for the season.

Then I can surf through the DirecTV NFL Sunday Ticket as I see my players hit their respective red zones. Makes for a whole lot of fun on a Sunday.. unless its during the Boys game of course, then the channel does NOT get changed.

I prefer nfl.com over yahoo.com. I have no experience with other sites.

I get the Fantasy Index yearly pre-draft issue. 10 years ago, Fantasy Index was the guide you used for fantasy football. Recently it hasn't been very accurate - enjoyable to read, but way off the mark (Tatum Bell on the cover in 2005, for example). I still buy it - because so many people use it, I buy it to see how other people will draft.

Got to agree with you Skaven. I used to love their 3 years production stuff with a projection for the coming year. I refused to tell guys in my fantasy league what I was using. Now I smile when I see them have it at a live draft.
