Farley's March 5th 40 time, 4.28

Awesome speed!

If his back surgery drops him into the 2nd round, trade down our #10 pick to around the mid 1st while picking up an extra late 2nd round pick. Use that traded down/mid 1st round pick to get DT Christian Barmore. Then get CB Caleb Farley with one of our 2nd round picks.

Kevin Smith #1 pick in 1992 also had blazing speed. He then had an achilles tear, came back from that, then back problems caused him to decline and he was done early. And he came in healthy. Clairborne was also injury prone. Farley has had too many injuries so young. He scares me as an injury bust to whomever drafts him. Judge him not on 1-3 years, but over 6+ years.

I just don’t see for 4.28 film but if he ran that during his pro day he would have been a top 7 pick.

What was the framerate for that camera? If it was shooting at say 30 FPS, it's taking pictures 0.03 seconds apart. So if you start the tape when Farley begins, and stop it when he ends, there's a worst-case 0.06 seconds it may not be capturing correctly there.

You don't need a hard sell to convince me that Farley is a 4.3 guy all day and might have a 4.2 run in him, but film is one of the crappiest measurement techniques I can think of to prove a player's speed.

Man im so upset he had the back thing flare up. I still think hes going to be a baller.

The very beginning of that video looks funky, like there’s a skip and you don’t get to see the actual start of the run.

Then, with the guy freezing it after he’s already started and the clock saying -0.01 sec... I don’t know.

I don’t really trust it.

I got my eye on Farely, of course, randomly after Surtain n Horn show out.. a clip of Caleb bending time and space exploding out of his stance to clock a 4.28 40.

Speed is great but having good body control being able to gather yourself and change directions and adjust to the ball is just as critical. I think the 40 is a very good tool when looking at players but not the only one that matters. After all this is football not track and field. This is why you see some CB who do not have elite speed yet excel at the position because it take more than just raw speed to succeed

I disagree with your idea.

You are banking on us having Farley being healthy. If his back continues to be a problem, or if it gives out again, we have one starting CB (Diggs).

We can only take Farley if we've already chosen another CB early

I don't think we can seriously consider him until round 4.

Loved Kevin Smith, he really got under Jerry Rice’s skin!
