I know the CBA situation makes everything dicey, but what else have we to do except speculate on the Draft and FA's.

Mankins. That to me is an almost must make deal. He still has 5-6 years more top play in him. A real Pro Bowl guard.

Now also look around and see what other guys in a need position are available. To me a FS is a must; any available.

If we can get those two spots filled then we have some room to work the draft to our benefit.

I would love to get a DE, maybe another good guard. Good Tackles are just not available; I am not sure any centers are either.

Frankly a good ILB would be nice as well.

We need all the help we can get from both FA and the draft. Add a new coaching staff to get the most out of what players are retained and maybe we can turn this around.

if Mankins doesn't sign to play this year, then he can't be a FA next year...according to this CBA...I think he is testing that out....

we have been trying to address the center position for two years and have missed out both years.

we need an ILB like nobody's business. Jason Williams looks like he is another two years away to really contribute. sean lee looks like a candidate but we need a stud in the middle. right now the running defense is getting gashed because our MLB are nowhere to be found.

I agree, saftey saftey, saftey. maybe AOA is the answer. at some point you got to let the kid get out and learn. if we are 1-8 or 2-9 then its time to let young kids play and learn under fire.

if the players are such that they show they have given up, then show that you have given up on them....give young, hugry guys a chance.

Mankins is priority #1 in my book.

This team has zero guard play for the future.

Unfortunately for us, the safety position looks terrible for free agents next year.

I think getting Mankins needs to be our #1 priority going into the offseason.

Not only is he a good player but he is versatile too.

Free, Kosier, Costa/Gurode, Mankins, ???? is a nice quick fix.

Plus you still have the draft.

I think we need to start looking at Corners too. Especially when you have guys like Jenkins who think they don't need to get better and just "maintain" what they have.

Good thinking!

Not sure why everyone is in such a hurry to sign a 29 year old guard.

Sign Carl Nicks, Davin Joseph and David Harris.

Guards will last longer than tackles. Many guards play very well into their middle thirties and beyond. He is a PRO BOWL player and deserves it.

Besides he will have had a year off so his body should be in great shape.

I would rather draft a free safety than sign one. Same with MLB.

I think our holes are in this order:

OG
FS
RT
MLB
CB
SS

How bout anybody who doesnt lie down like a dog.

Obviously OL.

But the secondary is a HUGE need.

A unit that is vastly overrated. I think the scheme makes our corners look worse than they are, but the safeties are terrible. And with the exception of Sensabaugh, they are all mediocre tacklers.

I'm on the draft Peterson bandwagon / sign the best available safety in FA (Otogwe?)

I've got us a center/guard. LOL ;)

LeRoy Harris C/G 6-3 303 (4th round pick; NC State) 2007 draft/108th pick

This guy is 26 and will play at 27 next year. Harris was a reserve for three years in Tennessee and starts at guard for them this year. He can play all three interior line positions, and was projected to play center this year. However, the Titans went with the more experienced Eugene Amano.

I've seen him play many times, and I remember how well he played at center in a divisional playoff game when Mawae was hurt. He's even played a game at RT.

Titans Hall of Fame offensive line coach (Mike Munchak) raves about him.

Here are some adjectives to describe him.

Physical (can push the pile)
Smart
Athletic
Thick
Strong
High Leverage Player (uses height)

I would make this guy my number 1 free agent target. He could play LG or C. The Titans really like this guy, but $ talks and the Cowboys have prestige as a franchise. The Titans have a rookie guard from Georgia behind him, and they are known for letting players walk. No doubt, they will try to keep him. He should be cheaper than Mankins.

The Titans gave G/C Eugune Amano a 5 year, $ 26.25 million dollar deal. They may want to give Harris a little more money.

The Titans have four draft picks starting on their offensive line and one free agent. They have a pipeline and feed the front.

Now is the time for a plan and leadership.

Get it done.

Face reality.

Don't feel sory for yourself.

Get back on the horse and steal one of Chris Johnson's young blockers.

Mike Lombardi (NFL Network) just stated that you can't run the football due to your deteriorating offensive line play. Lombardi states that Dallas can't block anyone in the running game. Jerry, they couldn't block Betty White in the running game.

Get Felix Jones some help.

Get Tony Romo some help.

Easy Cuts:

Leonard Davis
Marac Colombo

Need to move or cut or get a replacement:

Andre Gurode

Easy Walk:

Kyle Kosier

OL/ILB/DL

I still like Owusu as FS under a new scheme. We really need some sort of penetration from our DL and some ILB's that can cover space.

Address LB in free agency. Kirk Morrison or Dqwell Jackson would both be upgrades over what we already have. The FA safeties aren't too exciting. I'd look into Shaun Rogers at NT.

it would be cool if we could draft Prince Amakamura from Nebraska.
;)

Throughout all the threads on the board where i see people trying to figure out what we need, and where are biggest holes are i keep seeing MLB as one of our biggest needs and hardly ever see NT as a need.

Honestly, it makes me wonder if people even understand the type of defense we run here. We NEED a real NT. Aside from the O Line, i would like to see us get a top flight guy at NT, a huge guy like a Hampton or Ngata who can finally plug the middle and keep opposing teams offensive lines from getting to the second level so **** quickly.

Ratliff is great, but he's 290 lbs and just doesn't have the strength or the mass to hold off opposing offensive linemen long enough to free up our LB's to make enough plays. We have two above average MLB's right now in Bradie and Brooking (and Lee hopefully next year), and they arn't small or weak guys by any means, but every game i watch they just get swallowed up too many times by OG's. Ratliff would excel, IMO, at DE. But we desperately need a true monster of a NT to make our 34 defense stronger. I hope we address this in the offseason.
