Fasano and serious injury concerns

Fasano was thought to have a rod fused in his back, but they did a recheck at the combine and found it was a plate with screws.

Doctors said it was bound to be an isssue at some point and did not recommend drafting him before round 3.

From PFW.

It sounds about right for our medical staff to screw up a second round pick (see Kevin Burnett - hip scoped before TC last year and Jacob Rogers).

Let's hope not this time, a 2nd rounder is a high pick to blunder.

never missed a practice or game at ND so i wouldn't say he is injury prone

By the way, on grade scales a "1" is a clean bill of health.
They had Fasano as a "3".
In comparison, McNeill and Allen were ranked as "3.5".
Zemaitis is a "4" with very serious concerns.

Yeah that was on the PFW report too, that he never missed practice because of it. He isn't injury prone, but it has to be a concern at some point. Back injuries are very crucial even in everyday life - much less in pro football.

Anyway, here's hoping he becomes an all pro with no major injury problems in the NFL.

From PFW.

Nice. The doctors make recommendations about draft value.

A TE with a bad back, this is something completely new to this franchise.

haha, any second round pick we have will have injury problems.

I still like the pick though

I don't think Rogers missed any games in college either (despite being hurt), but when he became a pro... You know the rest of the story.

From reading the report it sounds as if the doctors might be team doctors making recommendations to their teams about him.
