Jim Fassel Bites Back

I'd expect it'll get uglier than this at some point, but for now, here are a few of Fassel's pointed comments about Vinny Cerrato the Commanders, via CBSSports.com's Clark Judge
"At the end of the day," said Fassel, "Dan wanted to make a big splash, and I think he was worried about the Baltimore thing. He worried about the public relations (fallout), and he didn't know which way to go.

"I heard someone say there are no more George Youngs or Jim Finks in this league, people who really know the game. And I think that happened here. I don't think Dan surrounded himself with enough football people."
And also:
"Someone said to me that Jim Zorn has three jobs he hasn't done now," Fassel said. "He's a head coach, and he's never done it. He's an offensive coordinator, and he's never done it. And he's calling the plays, and he's never done it."
Other things Jim Zorn has likely never done: lived in Washington D.C., driven on the Dulles Toll Road, eaten at Ben's Chili Bowl, ventured into the second verse of Hail to the Commanders, sampled a Smoot Smack Energy bar. Dude is obviously in completely over his head.

The only thing I got out of that article is that Fred Smoot has an energy bar ? How is that possible ?

Those boat rides take a lot out of you. :D

lol

I didn't know he had an energy bar either. The rest...well it's to be expected and pretty much just him stating the obvious.

Hmm, interesting. I heard Fassel this morning on Mike & Mike, and he seemed to be going out of his way to cast Snyder in a positive light. Maybe he realized how the comments quoted here would look, and decided to do a little damage control?

He was on the Junkies this morning, and he gave me the same impression you had. He said that it was ultimately about comfort level. Fasseol also said that this is the flavor of the league. When he was coaching, the NFL was experimenting with college coaches, and that seems to have failed. Now, they are going for coordinators that have relatively little experience.

He was on Mike and the Mad Dog this afternoon and was very
positive about the Washington decision and the Giants as well.I thought
he did a good job with the Giants and thought he deserved to stay on,i
guess i'm in the minority on that.
