Imagine three seasons from now:

1. Romo is gone.

2. Witten is gone.

3. Dez is no longer Dez.

4. Lee, Free, Beasley, Claiborne, Carr, Williams, Church, and others are gone.

5. The offensive line is in its prime.

6. Marinelli and Linehan are gone. New offense and defense.

7. Concussions and lawyers have dramatically changed high school, college, and pro football.

8. Jerry will be 77.

Do you think this is playing heavily into the draft decisions this weekend?

It should be. Whether or not it is remains to be seen.

Having no successor to Romo in place with this OL in its prime would be criminal in my opinion.

9. Skynet is online.

10. California has sunk into the ocean.

11. Apes have taken over the world.

12. Humans are hunted, scattered to the winds in this post apocalyptic ruin.

There's only one question that matters now. Only one question on everybody's lips, "How soon, is too soon, to draft a kicker?"

I think they will have the 2017, 2018 and 2019 plus this years draft to address those issues. Hopefully they can get all or close to all of the positions filled in that time frame....I think every draft from here on out will have those factors weighed heavily in the decisions made.

I think every draft the future should be viewed, which is why I have been so adamant about getting a QB now to work and develop behind Romo. I'm not talking some 4th or 5th rd pick but a prospect that is viewed with greater potential.

Every team out there is pretty much faced with the same thing, In NO Brees is not getting any younger or San Diego with Rivers and even beyond QB with player movement within FA changes is constant.

What will be the state of the Cowboys in 2019 who knows, heck who knows how this team will be this season.

We'll be drafting a CB in the first and /De in the second for the 5th year in a row, we'll have udfa's backing up Dez, and Wilcox is making progress! The front office will be looking high and low for the next Romo in the udfa pile.

My point is....

Right now, Dallas needs defensive line help, so let's say they draft defensive line help. In three years, they'll have a good defensive line.

But by then, they'll be weak at receiver, quarterback, and cornerback, so they draft those. In three more years, those are set. But then the defensive line needs help again.

It's a vicious circle in a free-agency driven league, especially with players wanting out sooner for health reasons.

Draft for now. The future will always have huge holes to fill.

Yes we need DL help Dallas made a move in FA to help in that regard as well. I think DL will be a position in this draft but I also think they will look for offensive players as well if the right player is there at their selection. I get what you are saying but a move here or there in FA, hitting on a player in the draft can provide major turn arounds quickly
