thats what happens when you have players going to training facilities where they are taught how to run sprints.

But the NFL's caught on to this little game. I know of one NFL team that's now timing people using coach's tape in actual game situations.

One person told me that they removed a player (didn't say whom) who is usually referred to as a first day guy from their board after timing him over 5.20 for 40 yards on some kick coverage his sophomore year. The rationale is either that's his real football speed or he just doesn't care. Either way it's a deal breaker as far as they're concerned.

speed in the CB position is the most important factor for them.

the guys in bold IMO are the only ones who have even been decent in the NFL. if that doesnt show how overrated the dash can be nothing else does

funny thing that 3 of those guys were denver CBs last year

I think the real issue would be that at the combine they're wearing a t-shirt and spandex shorts as opposed to full pads and helmet. I can see that logically adding 1 second to their time.

Jerome Mathis has been a solid KR for Houston.

Darrant Williams had a very nice year last year...and had a lock on the starting spot opposite Champ.

Chad Jackson was just a rookie....and his catches were taken away by Caldwell and the other veterans on the team. I look for Jackson to have a bigger role for Pats in 2007.

Its always amazed me that they do all the drills and runs in shorts and with track shoes, etc. IT SHOULD be done in full pads.

:hammer:

I agree 100% and have been saying this for years. Football speed.

For some pads slow a player down a lot, others keep their same speed in pads.

Time them all in full gear if you want real speed.
